PvP Pet Battles

Almost…(panting)… there. Today the Acorn Berserkers help me hit my final milestone before the real thing. I’m still having tons of fun pet battling. I haven’t used or sold a single stone yet so I need to decide what to do with all of them. Sell, trade, use myself, who knows? At any rate, I’m fairly confident that I will achieve my goal of making it to max level by exclusively PvP pet battling. I still haven’t stepped out of the starting area or done a single quest. It took 2,539 PvP victories to get to this point so that’s 429 to get from 80 to 85. Remember that’s not an exact number since you don’t get experience when people run away too soon. It’s close enough. Here are the stats so far:

I’ve been getting a little bit bored of the daily battle lately. Today I was thinking it would be nice to do a battle log, or a challenge mode, or a team tryout. But alas, there’s only so much time in the day and I really like publishing content daily. If only there was a way to have it all… then I realized the solution is obvious. I’m still going to do a “daily”, but it won’t necessarily be the same every day. I’m going to use a different format each day depending on what I feel like doing. Here are some of the categories that I have in mind:

Today’s Team – Exactly what I’m doing right now. I’ll pick a team, discuss its strategy then queue for one battle and give a detailed walkthrough.

Challenge Mode – I’ll keep playing with different teams until I lose. My score will be my number of wins.

What I’ve Been Training For – If I have time on Tuesday I’ll document my journey to ten wins for the weekly quest.

Mini Tryouts – Like the team tryouts I used to do in 5.3 but on a smaller scale. Expect around five battles.

Five Wins or Bust – I’ll queue with different teams until I get five wins.

What’s Your Twenty – If I’m feeling really ambitious I’ll queue up for twenty battles and see how many I can win. This will probably only happen on the weekends.

The Lazy Five – Some days I feel like doing more more battling than blogging. This will be my way out. Five battles with very minimal documentation.

I’ll try this for awhile and see how it goes. I’m excited, I’m on a new battlegroup and have a new daily format!

It’s taking awhile now. It took 558 wins to get from level 70 to level 80. Even though Death Adders and Unborn Val’kyrs are running amok the meta is in a decent place*. I’m finally starting to feel the grind of Safetydance@Madoran just standing around and pet battling, but I’m not giving up. Ten more levels till my goal! My pace has also slowed a bit due to getting back into some other hobbies (Warhammer 40k, mixing records) but don’t worry, I’m not quitting pet battles anytime soon

*(besides Demolish and elementals being broken)

That… took… forever. It took 574 wins to get from level 60 to level 70. I’m really hoping that the experience scales better from 70 to 80, 80 to 85 and 85 to 90. I’m pretty sure it will. The journey from 60 to 70 saw the rise and fall of Murkalot and Kovok, now it’s back to Death Adders and Val’kyrs. I’m so sick of Val’kyrs, but I’d rather fight one of those than a 1200 damage Pheromones casting Kovok any day. Or a Murkalot that can cast both RI and Shieldstorm. Here are all the numbers so far:

Level 50, it looks like I might be serious about this leveling to 90 through pet battles business. Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun with Kovok. I’m getting pretty tired of Val’kyrs, Crawdads and Adders. Oh well, I can’t make people stop using them just because I don’t like them. Anyways, I think it’ll take over 2000 victories to level to 90 so I’m not even half way there.

Next milestone achieved! My meta has been more competitive lately but I’m still able to keep the wins coming in. There’s been a lot more damn Idols, yuck. More importantly, I’m still a specless priest in level 1 gear who has done nothing but stand in the starting zone and PvP pet battle for experience.

Level 30 woo hoo! I can have a second spec now. But wait, I didn’t even choose my first spec yet. I’m just a weird specless priest standing on Sunstrider Isle watching level ones and twos run past me. If you happen to pass by give Safetydance @ Madoran a wave. I chose Madoran because I thought there might be a lot of pet activity on the AH due to the Warcraft Pets guild being based on that server. It was a bad assumption. I checked it out on another character I made and it really isn’t that great, oh well.

You know how you sometimes get that error message “You are already queued for a pet battle” when you queue? You just need to need to reload to make it disappear then you can queue up normally. I reloaded and it didn’t go away. I relogged and it didn’t go away. I disabled all of my addons and it didn’t go away. I switched to a different character, I started a new character, I even reinstalled out of desperation. That still didn’t fix the problem. My ticket is open; if I don’t get a response by the end of the day I’ll give Blizz a call but for now no PvP queue for me. It happened right when I was having so much fun testing out new Celestial Blessing comps. Damn you green Porcupette!

I hit the next major milestone in my long adventure of leveling to 90 by only PvP pet battles. I still haven’t done a single quest or even left the starting area. It’s taken me 190 wins to get here.
