Today’s Team: Talanerds
P/B Royal Peacock (Savage Talon, Arcane Storm, Feign Death)
P/P Nexus Whelpling (Frost Breath, Mana Surge, Wild Magic)
S/S Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (Breath, Thunderbolt, Decoy)

Rationale:
I replaced yesterday’s Twilight Fiendling with the much more useful MPD. The initial plan was to change the weather to arcane winds then feign to the dragon for Mana Surge. What I’ve been doing instead is this: start with the peacock to cast Arcane Storm, feign to the MPD then use Decoy and Thunderbolt. At that point I’ll either stay in for a few rounds while Feign Death refreshes or swap to the dragon for the Mana Surge. I could always change the positions of the MPD and dragon if I wanted the Nexus Whelpling to come in on the swap but so far this team has been working really well.

Concerns:
I’ve beaten so many MPDs in the past by forcing a final match-up against an undead pet. The weak damage from Breath makes it hard to take those ex-living pets out.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Unborn Val’kyr
S/S Sporeling Sprout
P/S Wild Golden Hatchling

The Battle:
120814BHmm, choices. Do I start with the MPD to block the Cyclone or start with the Royal Peacock to change the weather from lightning. How did I know that the dragon would start for the Call Lightning/ Cyclone combo? Partly experience, but also looking at the opposing team and trying to figure out what they are trying to do. I chose to start with my Peacock to change the weather from lightning to arcane winds. My assumption was correct, the dragon was the first pet my bird had to face. It pained me to start off the battle with a weak move, but I cast Shadow Talon right before the lightning came since I didn’t want tot use my weather first. The weather was lightning, no problem, I cast Arcane Storm while the dragon cast Cyclone. Now I had another choice: do I feign now or wait until the valk comes in? I decided to chance keeping the bird in for one more round in case the Wild Golden Hatchling swapped to the valk. Yep, that’s what happened, another good call. That meant I didn’t waste my Feign Death while my opponent swapped, which meant I could feign the Curse Of Doom on the next round. Nice.

120814CMy MPD had taken more damage than my Nexus Whelpling from the Cyclone so my dragon came in on the feign. That’s great, everything was going my way. Mana Surge took brought the valk to 0 hp on its second round thanks to the dragonkin racial proccing after the first. The valk tried to Haunt and couldn’t thanks to the new mechanic. After the valk expired the Wild Golden Hatchling killed my dragon before being taken out by my MPD. By that time it was pretty much over, but I was still scared of the S/S Sporeling Sprout. It’s quite the tank with Crouch, Leech Seed and Jab, plus Leech Seed is strong against mechs. There was no need to worry since this sprout had Charge and Spore Shrooms. Seriously, everything went my way tonight. The humanoid was dispatched by the MPD for the win.
