Leviathan Boner

H/P Macabre Marionette (Macabre Maraca, Death and Decay, Bone Barrage)
S/S Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (Breath, Thunderbolt, Decoy)
H/P Leviathan Hatchling (Tail Slap, Poison Spit, Primal Cry)

I’ve been pretty good at not using the MPD. Sure, I have my team Slitherbolt, but that doesn’t get much use. So after getting beaten a lot lately by the MPD instead of pissing and moaning about it I decided to catch a ride on the MPD gravy train and make a team with it.

LBIRight now the MPD is the best of the best, being one of the top pets in the 1st tier. Due to this elite status I didn’t want to load up a faceroll team with other 1st tier pets. So how did I choose the two pets? Well, I hate facing MPDs and their annoying decoys so I chose the Macabre Marionette for its decoy ripping field effects: Death and Decay along with Bone Barrage. It also serves as my soaker with a decent amount of health and the “don’t dare queue without it” undead racial. I also enjoy using the puppet because I get Party Party Party in my head whenever I use it.

For the third pet I chose the Leviathan Hatchling because its health pool and aquatic racial can stand up to undead AoE, plus Primal Cry is an AoE itself with the added bonus of giving a team wide slow. This can help with any truly fast pets that out speed the MPD and it can help the slowish Leviathan Hatchling out speed any medium speed pets. One thing which is I think is nice about this aquatic pet is that even though it has Primal Cry it doesn’t have any moves that require speed.

This team lacks any avoidance which may really hurt me, and it also lacks any critter damage for taking out undead quickly. Also, Breath is weak against undead, which is something that keeps the MPD from being godmode. Oh, and don’t forget the Fiendish Imp. At least I have some cover with the undead puppet. Due to these flaws I don’t see this as being an elite team, I see it as a fun team that will do well thanks to the MPD carrying it. I’m thinking it’ll take me about one hundred twenty-five battles to get to one hundred wins, which puts this team around the same quality level as Frosty Cold Rats. Hmm, that team is good, maybe I’m over estimating the power of the MPD. I guess we’ll see.

W: Molten Corgi, Tiny Harvester, Winter’s Little Helper
Demolish connected more than I would have liked it to, this was a close battle, but thankfully I started off with a win.

W: Blighthawk, Jademist Dancer, Emperor Crab
LBAI was put to the test already against a clonedance team. It started out well for me since I was able to block the initial use of Cyclone with a decoy. I was worried about taking the Emperor Crab down but it stayed in against the Leviathan Hatchling, whose Tail Slap was able to out damage the heals with help from the cleansing rain my opponent called up.

W: Molten Corgi, Tiny Harvester, Winter’s Little Helper
It seems like a new player here, not too much to worry about.

W: Molten Corgi, Dread Hatchling, Winter’s Little Helper
All I have to do against the Molten Corgi is keep my MPD out of harm’s way and drop my field effect while the dog is under. The timing of Ice Tomb was off so it hit right as my Leviathan Hatchling died, wasting it.

W: Azure Whelpling, Sister of temptation, Shard Of Cyruhk
LBBFor some reason the humanoid stayed in against my puppet. Bad idea. So far one undead pet in five battles? I don’t mind.

W: MPD, Unborn Val’kyr, Lil’ Bling
LBCFinally another undead pet, for a minute there I thought I was in an alternate reality. This was another good team, although I can’t say that it was played too well. Decoy doesn’t help much when Bone Barrage along with Death and Decay are already in play.

W: MPD, Ghastly Kid, Alpine Hare
LBEOh snap, my first really tough battle and I came out on top… barely. My Macabre Marionette survived with a whopping 12 health. At one point my opponent chose to use Cleanse to get rid of the field effects, which I thought was a bad move. The rabbit was played very well; I thought that Dodge was going to be cast many times when it wasn’t, so I would say I really lost the head games. This was a meaningful win but I’m still not overly confident. I’m still fearing the inevitable triple undead AoE that’s around.

W: Feral Vermling, Ore Eater, Hyjal Wisp
LBDA battle of the first tier pets. Well, not really, since it wasn’t an S/S Ore Eater. I was sill absolutely frightened of Shell Armor. Fortunately for me my opponent made a bad swap that allowed my to get ahead. This was after the Feral Vermling did a great job destroying my Macabre Marionette. It’s really annoying when two or more of the three barrages miss, but that’s the change you take. At least the undead barrage didn’t get ruined like the critter and elemental barrages. A crit at the end kept the Ore Eater from having a wish come true, but I think I had it wrapped up before that.

W: Lil’ Bling, Darkmoon Zeppelin, Emerald Proto-Whelp
Damn barrages are good against a decoy. And maracas are good against dragons. Who knew?

L: Teroclaw Hatchling, Death Adder Hatchling, Bonkers (9-1)
Nooooo! I hate losing to both Bonkers and the Teroclaw Hatchling. I was actually doing well but I got a bit complacent and brought the marionette in when I should have brought in the aquatic. That would have allowed me to have a few rounds of the puppet against the healy bird at the end of the battle. Alas, I only realized this after it was too late. I hate to admit that this battle pissed me off so bad that I queued with Owngrinders for the revenge win. It was a spanking, trap style. That means I won the revenge battle in case you couldn’t tell.

W: Ghastly Kid, Corrupted Nest Guardian, Lost Netherpup (10-1)
Haunt went right into the Leviathan Hatchling on two occasions, making it extremely ineffective. I even took a Howl with my aquatic, it didn’t matter. I saved the MPD until the end, it came in with full health to finish off both the Corrupted Nest Guardian and the kid, which it did with ease.

W: Graves, Teroclaw Hatchling, Nightshade Sproutling (11-1)
LBFWith two back line healers and Graves I can see this as a really tough team to beat. It was an intense battle that took a lot of thought on my part in order to win. I made sure to use Decoy whenever my MPD was facing the elemental and swap out as soon as it came down. Bone Barrage’s rng was kind to me, with a lot of triple hits going my way. In the end it was the Leviathan Hatchling that cleaned up the elemental and the poser elemental bird for the win.

W: Graves, Teroclaw Hatchling, Nightshade Sproutling (12-1)
LBGThis time was much easier because my opponent swapped way too much and for some reason didn’t take out my Macabre Marionette when it only had forty health left. It was able to get off a few extra Bone Barrages thanks to my opponent swapping and healing when they should have been taking out my undead. The Teroclaw Hatchling fled at the end which is usually a sign that someone is going to come back hard with a revenge team, so I think I’ll lay play another team. Or I could be tricky and try to figure out what they are going to counter with, then put together a team to counter that. I don’t feel like putting that much energy into playing the queue so I’ll just use whatever team I feel like.  Oh, I really should mention that the elemental isn’t an S/S, that would make these battles much more difficult.

W: Stinkrot, Fel Pup, Crusher (13-1)
LBHI really thought this was going to shape up to be an epic battle. I was initially afraid to bring in my MPD due to the threat of Fel Immolation on the faster Fel Pup, so I started with my puppet. Stinkrot started off in an undead face-off, and my undead was on the losing end so I swapped to my aquatic, then the Fel Pup came in. After a using Primal Cry and taking a Howl I felt it was safe to bring in my MPD. Decoy was used and my opponent fled. Too bad, this could have been great.

L: Alpine Hare, Emperor Crab, Fossilized Hatchling (13-2)
The rabbit is a bona fide MPD killer. I did my best to make the rabbit pay with Primal Cry, but my opponent played well enough to keep the rabbit on the back line when it was slowed. The Emperor Crab was a big concern, too.

September 20th
W: Infinite Whelpling, Lil’ Tarecgosa, Nexus Whelpling (14-2)
Weakness was annoying, but not effective enough to earn a win.

L: Lil’ Bling, Stormwing, Zomstrok (14-3)
Bad night for my journey teams. My opponent played well.

October 3rd
W: Trunks, Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm, Peanut (15-3)
LBJI felt sort of bad for beating up on a themed team with Trunks on it until my opponent used When Elekks Fly. Trunks is awesome, so awesome that it bothers me when people get get rngeesy with him. Smash, Ethereal and Thunderbolt is my preferred move set by a long shot. Easy win.

L: Alpine Foxling, Trunks, Fragment Of Anger (15-4)
Once again I’m facing copy-catter, dirty-ratter. Make your own damn team. As soon as CCDR comes on my meta I know it is time to bust out the good teams. Even with a team having two MPD counters I almost won.

W: Darkmoon Eye, Bone Serpent, Abyssius (16-4)
LBLI finally finished up with POTM #8 so I can finally get back to JTOH.  This was my first battle with this team in months. The team that I faced was really no match for the MPD, with Breath doing so much damage to two magic pets. I didn’t use my aquatic.

W: Darkmoon Eye, Bone Serpent, Abyssius (17-4)
LBKMy opponent played so much better by trying to avoid the MPD versus magic pets and thus the result was much closer. Now that I think about it, I did miss a few times. At any rate, my MPD was the sole survivor with 123 health and a failsafe to spare.

L: Graves, MPD, Stormwing (17-5)
People complain about Graves all the time, but I’m at the point now where I can beat Graves regularly if it doesn’t have an MPD or a Ghastly Kid as a partner. If it’s paired with either of those two pets I pretty much can’t those combos without a super powered team of my own. I tried some revenge with Rick Frostly but had to beat up on a Graves and Lil’ Bling team instead.

W: Alpine Hare, Death Adder Hatchling, Phoenix Hatchling
The rabbit and adder were slow enough breeds so that Primal Cry really screwed them up.

I didn’t get around to Disco’s Battles today but I added this team to Journey To 100 and also did some battles with Party Burn Plague. That counts for something!

    @Wamp (from other thread)

I think that all three breeds of the Leviathan Hatchling are decent. I like the H/P because it has more health than the P/B and more power than the H/B, with the trade off being 13 less speed. Since it doesn’t have any speed moves and I’ll be using Primal Cry, I think the health and power is worth giving up the speed for.
