Today’s Team: Y-Visitors
H/S Harmonious Porcupette (Scratch, Celestial Blessing, Tranquility)
P/P Ravager Hatchling (Rend, Screech, Devour)
H/H Spirit Crab (Snap, Surge, Shell Shield)

Rationale:
I love to put Celestial Blessing on fragile, powerful pets like the Ravager Hatchling. I’ll start with the porc to set up the blessing then swap to the Ravager Hatchling. Yu’la is more interesting than the Harmonious Porcupette so the dragon is my preferred Celestial Blessing pet. I just like to change things up sometimes with the porc. The undead crab is a solid choice on just about any team.

Concerns:
When using a fragile pet and expecting the Celestial Blessing it’s often obvious what you’re going to do.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Unborn Val’kyr
S/S Death Adder Hatchling
S/S Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot

The Battle:
I’m doing the round-by-round tonight.

Maybe I’m missing it. Maybe it’s because I’m reading this on an iPhone. I’m having difficulty distinguishing your moves vs your opponents. Maybe you can underline or place a * on the moves you make?

  2. Noel says:

No idea why he kept the valk in vs scratch and yet didn’t even Haunt/Unholy Ascension.

  3. Tekulve says:

There are times when Valk players will just hammer away with shadow shock .. I think its a smart move because the Valk hits hard enough. In this case it was an h/h breed which is inferior.. a haunt or UA would have been wise. The player may have wanted the mech vs beast matchup (meaning a need to be rid of the porc. 1st) but that didnt play out so well either.

Its a case of Discodoggy playing it well and the opponent playing it poorly (and folks, why not camp for a b/b Valk if you insist on playing one)

  4. Tekulve says:

Btw .. I’m surprised that I very rarely ever see the undeads Disco plays in my meta … never the blighted/grizzy squirrels and never the spirit crab

    • Noel says:

I’m a huge fan of the Spirit Crab (thanks to Disco) whenever I need a shield and long life I use the H/H version.

I remember how hard it was to get the first Val’kyr (H/H)..not sure if I want to camp for a B/B.

      • Discodoggy says:

I didn’t really camp for mine, I just parked an alt at a spawn and logged in a few times each day. I don’t remember how long it took to get both breeds, but I would guess that it took over a month.

    • Discodoggy says:

I’ve seen a few Blighted Squirrels and a few Infected Squirrels and even fewer Spirit Crabs. I don’t mind not seeing them much as they are such hard pets to face.

    Something very strange is happening!

I went to get a P/P Ravager Hatchling and they’re gone, or at least after fifty encounters, not a single one spotted. Moreover, the stats of the wild pets no longer match the stats given on either wowpets or wowhead for the breed/rarity.

Can anyone else check this out for me and see if this is just me being extremely unlucky or missing something obvious?

It is almost certainly an error in the reporting… the reason I say this with some certainty is that I had EXACTLY the same problem trying to get a P/P sporeling. I battled on numerous toons for days and never saw one. (this was in April… so last patch)
I also noticed that the figures were not matching up on some but also that the stats that were showing in battle differed from the stats that showed after capturing. My solution was simply to catch every one that I battled and then check to see what I had stats wise… sure enough I caught a P/P within about twenty minutes… (although in battle it showed as a x/B breed.

I think Blizzard has started to weaken wild pets and perhaps not all addons for breeds are up to date yet.
