The Quick Three
I tried. I really did. I was trying to come up with interesting Crystal Spider and Mountain Skunk teams. I’ve come across only one team tonight without an adder or a valk. It’s absolutely disgusting. On nights like this I’m really surprised that I’ve managed to keep battling this long into 5.4. Now I’m just sounding whiny, I better get on with it. I decided to run some powerful teams tonight in response to all the snakes and ghosts.  Maybe I’ll even run some myself.

Battle 1: A New Hope
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Sen’Jin Fetish
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Emerald Proto-Whelp, Tolai Hare Pup

091714CLike so many valk users this person chose to stay in with their valk and watch it get gated out by the imp. No Haunt for you! The rabbit was easily dispatched by a plated Warbot and Immolation ticks. The EPW had to eat a Minefield, then the Warbot survived long enough (thanks to a poorly timed Emerald Presence) to get down another for the valk. It was fun to watch the unfriendly ghost run away. This battle got my paladin to level 86. The last time I did anything but pet battle on him was over a year ago in a level 63 dungeon. I have no idea how to play a paladin.
Record: 1-0

Battle 2: A New Hope
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Sen’Jin Fetish
vs. Fiendish Imp, Death Adder Hatchling, Tito

091714AI forgot to change teams, oh well. I had to run this super effective team again. Once again the Warbot got two minefields down, which meant somewhat of an easy victory. The opposing imp really should have saved the forced swap for my Warbot so it couldn’t get down the first Minefield. Instead it swapped out my own imp, thanks. A few turns later I brought it back in to force the adder into the mines. Yay. It was a slower adder so a Burn finished it off before it could do any damage at all.
Record: 2-0

Battle 3: Kingdom Of Doing
Spirit Crab, Spirit Crab, Death Adder Hatchling
vs. Qiraji Guardling, Fel Flame, Darkmoon Tonk

091714BI can run scum comps too! Just kidding, I’m totally not that guy. I have been blinded and punctured enough tonight to have earned the right to return the favor to my meta. I thought this battle might be closer than it was with the sandstorm and perhaps an Ion Cannon and Minefield to keep me at bay. Instead the adder controlled the battle and my opponent ended up fleeing abut halfway through. It wasn’t played that poorly by my opponent, it’s just that adders are so damn broken it’s almost impossible to win without a counter. What a waste of time.
Record: 3-0

Yeah, I switched back to using your Hard Call comp just because adders. Minefield plus an always-hit attack is fantastic against them.

Nice to see that team is still getting some use. I’ve seen it happen so much that I’m not longer surprised when bleeding adders don’t swap out.

Hiya .. Just a couple of notes: the Warcraft Pet Foundry blog link you have is dead..no longer available.

Also, you were interested in spiders lately, I know beasts have it tough in pet pvp lately due to adder overinflation but the s/s molten hatchling used to be a popular pick ages ago…i wonder if it could be part of a viable team ..it heals a ton i remember that much

    • Discodoggy says:

Thanks, I need to clean the links up. I also wanted to add Chibimage’s blog, Murloc Harbor.

And thanks for the reminder about the Molten Hatchling. I remember being beaten by it quite a bit in the early days of battling. I wonder how it would hold up now? Seems worth a shot.

I still don’t have a Valk or a Death Adder due to sheer laziness on my part. Also, I think it would get boring. It’s more entertaining for me to use a team you’ve highlighted or some goofy inspired creation of my own. I’ve been trying your New Hope team here and I’ve won a few times with it, but I think my problem is user error. I’ll get better… one day.

    • Discodoggy says:

What goofy teams have you been using?

      • Monkey says:

I started PVP pet battles fairly late in the game, due to being a big chicken. But now that I’m over that, I make teams that amuse me and then I usually have to modify them. For instance my Spongebob Team had Gary (Shimmershell Snail), Mr. Krabs (Spirit Crab) and Mrs. Puff (Purple Puff Fish). But it didn’t work, so I kept Gary, but added in Jademist Dancer and the Swamp Croaker instead. I made a Happy Thanksgiving set with Pierre, Plump Turkey and Mr. Wiggles (this did not go as planned), a Halloween Team with Feline Familiar, Gilnean Raven and Ghostly Skull, the obligatory Merry Christmas team with Rotten Little Helper, Tundra Penguin and Tiny Snowman. Basically I just have fun. If I feel like winning more frequently I’ll use my Lil Ragnaros, Darkmoon Zep and Curious Wolvar or Fossilized Hatchling. I’ve used a lot of pets I wouldn’t have thought of, like the Tiny Bog Beast (oh how I love him), thanks to your blog. Have a good break!
