Farewell 5.4 Part IV
Counting down my favorite 5.4 teams.

Team 108: Team Cackle
Competitive Score: 6/10
Gilnean Raven, Yu’la, Dread Hatchling
vs. Anubisath Idol, Anubisath Idol, Amber Moth

After some initial success I quickly forgot about this team. The problem is I just don’t enjoy darkness that much since I find accuracy reduction so annoying. This battle was kind of a pointless one; there was a demo spamming idol and Moth Dust. Rather than come up with a team that requires thought my opponent preferred to roll the dice and hope to get lucky. In this case it worked; five out of seven Demolishes connected and the Moth Dust procced sleep. What can you do? Idols are annoying in so many different ways.

Team 107: Fawndjango
Competitive Score: 7/10
Son Of Animus, Death Adder hatchling, Infected Fawn
vs. Chrominius, Nether Fairie Dragon, Infinite Whelpling

100914AThis was another lame one, this time with myself being the purveyor of lameness. Early in 5.4 I was all on board with using the adder. Later I realized how grossly OP it was and stopped using it as much. I did go back to it later after the staleness of this seemingly eternal meta started to bore me, but by then I had eyes wide open to the fact that I was using an OP pet. This battle was easy enough to two-pet with Son Of Animus and the snake.

Team 106: More Valks Please
Competitive Score: 6/10
Treasure Goblin, Unborn Val’kyr, Dread Hatchling
vs. Lil’ Bling, Gilnean Raven, Onyxian Whelpling

100914CWhen the both the Treasure Goblin and Dread Hatchling were released with move sets that had such great synergy with the Unborn Val’kyr I couldn’t resist making this team, even if it meant abusing the broken interaction between Haunt and Consume Corpse. I remember this team as being one that completely dominated or fell apart fast when the plan didn’t work. Siphon Life, Haunt, Wild Magic, Portal, Anzu’s Blessing. It’s really a nice sequence when it works. I’m glad Haunt is getting balanced because it is a fun move that leads to interesting synergies. I look forward to using it in interesting ways with the WoD pets. Oh, I won.

Just found out about the big nerfs to haunt, I can’t wait, I’m on a bunny and dodge the haunt, he now has to wait 4 rounds to cast it again! And they can’t haunt on their undead round…

I may not even have to always have an undead killer on my team … naah that’s crazy talk!
