How will MoP teams do in the current meta?

Battle 1: Flaming Gobbo
Unborn Val’kyr, Treasure Goblin, Fel Flame
loss vs. Magical Crawdad, Singing Sunflower, Terrible Turnip

100215AUgg, I was about to go on a rant about broken day teams, but I will refrain. I will simply state the obvious: if you don’t have a direct counter to sunny day (aka broken day) teams you probably aren’t going to beat it. With my silly team I had even less of a chance. I fled after round twenty-something. Most of my opponent’s pets had full health and mine were being slowly whittled down. I’d much rather face Graves than a broken day team.
Record: 0-1

Battle 2: Assbutt Trees
Jademist Dancer, Spirit Crab, Snarly
vs. Blossoming Ancient, Xu-Fu, Lil’ KT

100215BHow awesome is that? I run a team designed to kill trees and I get a tree to kill. It was still sort of hard to take down. No, really, not broken. I was put to the test since a Xu-Fu crit took out Snarly before the croc could get off a second Blood in the Water. If it wasn’t for Lil’ KT being really bad I might not have won. It lost the head to head face off with my Spirit Crab badly.  Go go super crab!  If I remember correctly I had a trailer load of Jademist Dancer teams in MoP. If it’s going to be a sunny day parade then I’m afraid I’ll have to rain on it.
Record: 1-1

Battle 3: Death By Water
Jademist Dancer, Snarly, Eternal Strider
vs. Frostwolf Ghostpup, Grotesque, Fossilized Hatchling

100215CHaving two aquatics on a team is a risk, but that risk certainly paid off against a team of triple undead. I started with the Jademist Dancer and tried to go berserk with my aquatic damage. My opponent swapped a few times so by the end of the dancer’s life the Fossilized Hatchling was down to zero health and the Frostwolf Ghostpup was less than half. The Eternal Strider finished off the undead puppy and took a big chunk off of the Grotesque, then Snarly finished off the Grotesque. Snarly didn’t have a lot of health left so I guess you could say it was a close battle, although it didn’t feel that way.
Record: 2-1

Battle 4: Battlegropers
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Snarly
vs. Graves, Abyssius, Clockwork Gnome

100215DThis was an odd battle. At first I was thinking that I would have to wait to cast Cyclone until Grave Destruction was used, but Abyssius started instead of everyone’s favorite undead scapegoat Graves. I figured that my Cyclone was safe if Volcano went down since Graves wouldn’t want to clear his own team’s object. Abyssius stayed in as I brought my dancer in to get the clonedance going. Rain Dance was cast and the damage started to add up. Things were going well for me already when Consume Corpse missed. It’s probably the cyclone (which is my personal favorite scapegoat) that caused the glitch. Damn, I was probably going to win anyways but now my “W” is tarnished. Stupid cyclone. That’s it for today, once again MoP teams did okay.
Record: 3-1

I started running with my DAH a couple weeks ago. Blinding Poison on a Graves is sweet; Grave Destruction and BONESTORM both missing pleases me. You may have inspired me to break out my original Haunt-Consume Corpse abuse team, Stitched Pup + Unborn Valk + DAH. I first gotta put down my current favorite (also inspired by you): Graves + Vengeful Porc + Goat. I said it was my favorite, I didn’t say it was fair to everyone else 😀

I ran into a fun glitch on Monday. Fighting Erris, my goat Haunted, then Graves killed the haunted pet and my goat died. He Haunted round 1, no debuffs going in, came out dead. Not even an undead round. Uhhh…whoops.

I was fighting a Skywisp Moth and had an elemental shield up. He hit me with Slicing Winds and he died. His body hit the floor, the combat log shows that he died. He then proceeded to drag his corpse across the ground and hit me twice more with Slicing Winds……

I’m mostly certain that end of round abilities that kill pets make consume corpse miss. It doesn’t seem to count as a death when that happens. Mind you, I am not a blizz dev, but every instance reported that I have seen where a log was posted, it was something like cyclone that killed the pet before CC missed. I think the same thing will prevent the Unborn Valk from rezzing after haunt (if the haunted enemy dies to an end of round effect).

You might have lots more data. Mine is just based off of forum posts where they post logs. So my data is limited

I was using the Ghastly Kid a few days ago and Haunt was one round away from coming off cooldown. The other team used an ability(I forgot to check what), and all of a sudden my Haunt was back on a 4 round cd. I never even clicked it. I used Ethereal that round and was going to use Haunt on the next turn. Had to swap out for a different pet.

Funny enough, just last night, this Haunt (bug ?) sequence happened when I was battling a Valk :

        1. Killed Valk..
        2. .. Shadow Shock
        3. .. Haunt (Missed)
        4. .. Valk still alive (?!), it cast Shadow Shock.

Did you initially kill it with end of turn damage? That’s been known to happen, the undead getting an extra round if it is killed by end of turn damage, like from a minefield.

          • DaveX says:

Highly probable, I’ve been running alot of poison/immolate/cyclone teams lately.

I need to get in the habit of taking screenies..
