Today’s Team: Ratty Dread
S/S Robo-Chick (Batter, Overtune, Wind-Up)
H/H Scourged Whelpling (Tail Sweep, Death and Decay, Plagued Blood)
S/S Black Rat (Scratch, Poison Fang, Survival)

Strategy:
The plan is to put up Plagued Blood with the Whelpling to heal the other two pets. The Rat can apply the Poison DoT through Poison Fang. While the Robo-Chick doesn’t have a DoT, it has a multiple attack in the form of Batter. If it can Batter an opposing pet with Plagued Blood the heals can reach close to 200 a turn.

Concerns:
As always, Sandstorm can negate my DoTs. Lately there’s been an influx of shielded Crawdads, might be a problem.

The Opposing Team:
B/B Unborn Val’kyr
S/B Clockwork Gnome
P/P Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
Lightning and Haunt could turn out to be a devastating combo.

The Battle:
101913BI started out with the Rat because I assumed that the Val’kyr would start. I was right so I already have an advantage. I Scratch while the Val’kyr Slashes and misses. Not wanting to stay in against the Rat the Val’kyr swapped to the Micro-Sentry, who took a Poison Fang on the swap. I swapped to my Scourged Whelpling as the Micro-Sentry to put up the Lightning. I have a DoT already down, I have another waiting to come out, do you really think Lightning is a good idea? I put up Plagued Blood and Death and Decay then decide to stay in versus the Micro-Sentry. One thing I have learned about Lightning battles is that the damage adds up really fast. Sometimes an unnecesary swap can mean the difference between winning and losing. I think the Scourged Whelpling can handle the Micro-Sentry and still have a little left so there’s no need to swap. If they cancel each other out I think I’ll win the two vs. two battle of the remaining pets. The Whelpling ended up killing the mech (thanks in part to the Lightning and Rat DoT) and was able to put Plagued Blood on the Gnome when it came in.

101913AI brought in the Robo-Chick to face the Gnome. Thanks to the Plagued Blood and triple Batter hits the Robo-Chick was able to take down the Gnome. Not only that, the Chick had a Wind-Up ready for the Val’kyr. The Chick unleashed the hard-hitting Wind-Up on the Val’kyr before dying. The Rat was able to easily take out the Val’kyr with Scratches. Well, it did need to use Survival, maybe it wasn’t that easy outlasting the undead racial. My opponent brought a Val’kyr and neither Haunted nor used Ascension. Interesting.
