Farewell 5.4 Part VI
Counting down my favorite 5.4 teams.

Team 85: You Got Goosed
Competitive Rating: 8/10
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Mongoose Pup
vs. Lil’ Ragnaros, Dragon Kite, Clockwork Gnome

101214CA clonedance team with the Mongoose Pup as the sweeper. I stopped using this team soon after its creation because I replaced the Mongoose Pup with Snarly or the Spirit Crab. This battle was easy enough since I could change the weather from lightning to cleansing rain. I learned something new in this battle: Volcano can chain CC just like Frog Kiss and Sleeping Gas. Even with the chain stuns my opponent fled when there was a low health rag facing a full health mongoose.

Team 84: Blizzy McRotten
Competitive Score: 6/10
Rotten Little Helper, Tiny Snowman, Kun-Lai Runt
vs. Death Adder Hatchling, Death Adder Hatchling, Death Adder Hatchling

I was going to have a tough time against three S/S adders without any mistakes, my huge mistake of casting Deep Freeze when I meant to cast Call Blizzard was too much to overcome. Stupid cold blue icons :).

Team 83: Blizzy McSurgester
Rotten Little Helper, Tiny Snowman, Tundra Penguin
vs. Crow, Glnean Raven, Dread Hatchling

Competitive Score: 6/10
It’s unfortunate that both my blizzard teams were pit against cheese teams. Rng gave me a big middle finger when a 40% Nocturnal Strike hit and crit my Tiny Snowman.

Team 82: Junk Yard Vermin
Competitive Score: 6/10
Fel Flame, Son Of Animus, Prairie Mouse
vs. Nether Fairie Dragon, Spawn Of Onyxia, Emerald Proto-Whelp

101214BWhat? Touch Of The Animus didn’t miss? Amazing! When this plan actually works the healing is through the roof. Scorched Earth, Flame Breath and Metal Fist all received touch heals. I look forward to more Son Of Animus team in WoD when accuracy is 100%.

Team 81: Retaliating Ten
Competitive Score: 7/10
Sen’Jin Fetish, Spirit Crab, Mongoose Pup
vs. Kun-Lai Runt, Living Sandling, Fluxfire Feline

It had been so long since I played this team that I still had my old moves loaded on the mask: Shadow Shock and Immolation rather than Flame Breath and Wild Magic. Well, it turned out to be a boon since I was facing a mech and a humanoid. The Mongoose Pup was fast enough so that Frost Shock didn’t make it slower than the KLR. This allowed it to Dive when Deep Freeze was cast.

Team 80: A Bloody Nightmare
Competitive Score: 8/10
Darkmoon Rabbit, Snarly, Electrified Razortooth
vs. Giraffe Calf, Stinker, Fawn

101214DThis was an interesting strategy from my opponent. Heal, Stampede then Headbutt. I decided to sacrifice my rabbit to one of the Headbutts while Shattered Defenses was up rather than take the chance of a stun on the swap. That was the closest my opponent came to success; I had a beast type DoT on every pet so three critters were at a serious disadvantage. It seems like someone is having some fun with triple family type teams today.

Team 79: Bet On Birds
Competitive Score: 6/10
Gilnean Raven, Dread Hatchling, Warbot
vs. Harbinger Of Flame, Arcane Eye, Dark Phoenix Hatchling

After playing this team I regret ranking it so high. It bores me. My opponent would have probably won but they went afk for three rounds.

Team 78: Black Thursday
Competitive Score: 6/10
Corefire Imp, Sen’Jin Fetish, Terrible Turnip
vs. Wild Golden Hatchling, Darkmoon Rabbit, Pocket Reaver

Thanks for the lightning, it made for an easy win. I used to hate the Terrible Turnip but I really enjoyed using it on this team.

Team 77: Disciples Of Hypocrisy
Competitive Score: 8/10
Qiraji Guardling, Living Sandling, Spirit Crab
vs. Emperald Proto-Whelp, Spawn Of Onyxia, Infinite Whelpling

101214FWhen I first started using sandstorm teams I felt like such a hypocrite since I’ve talked so much smack about the idol and about accuracy reduction moves. However, I really wanted to use the Qiraji Guardling and the Living Sandling, both of which fit best on a sandstorm team. I tried a few different pets for a third member; this team is one of the rare cases whee a Spirit Crab is not a great fit as a third. Not bad, but I created a few guardling/sandling teams that perform much better than this one. The sandstorm misses are indeed annoying, but it’s the price I must pay for using these two pets. This battle was silly. If you bring three pets of the same type expect to lose badly if you get countered. The Quiraji Guardling came close to soloing the entire opposing team.
