Today’s Team: Basking In Glory
H/S Scalded Basilisk Hatchling (Crystal Prison, Feign Death, Thrash)
H/P Blighthawk (Slicing Winds, Ghostly Bite, Cyclone)
S/S Jademist Dancer (Steam Vent, Rain Dance, Geyser)

Strategy:
More of the same Cyclone and Rain Dance action, I just can’t seem to give it up. The big plan here is to put up a Cyclone then swap to the Dancer to buff the accuracy and crit chance with Rain Dance. The Jademist Dancer and Blighthawk duo is so potent it gives a lot of freedom for the third slot. My favorite Basilisk hasn’t been seeing much action lately so I’ll give it a shot at sharing the glory. I chose Geyser over Acid Rain since Crystal Prison works well with end of turn nukes. Think you’re gonna Deflect my Geyser next round? Sorry, you’re in a Crystal Prison, you can’t.

Concerns:
I’ve been running this comp too much so I’ve been seeing more Sandstorms. I don’t want to run into one now.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Blackfuse Bombling
P/S Wild Golden Hatchling
H/S Kovok
Looks like there’s gonna be some Lightning.

The Battle:
112413ALightning is a potent weather. However, a good thing about facing a Lightning team is you know that most likely it will start with the Lightning pet. This battle was no different. The Wild Golden Hatchling was my opponent’s starting choice so I started with my Basilisk. Prison then Thrash meant I had a head start on the damage. I’m facing a regular competitor on my meta so he knows I’ll likely Feign next. Because of this I think a Cyclone is coming next so rather than Feign I decide to get another Thrash off. The Cyclone comes next, I do more damage with Thrash, next turn I Feign the Call Lightning. Nice job me. I brought in my Blighthawk to get the Cyclone going and then Ghostly Bite. This left the dragon with only 17 hp which my Cyclone took out. Kovok replaced the dragon and I swapped to the Dancer.

112413C Poison fang on the swap, Pheromones to the back line and then a Puncture Wound was enough to take out the Dancer thanks to the all of the extra damage from Lightning and Cyclone. The Dancer was able to get off Rain Dance and one Steam Vent against Kovok. My own Cyclone damage was starting to take its toll. I brought back in the Blighthawk to watch it go to 0 hp as it took out Kovok with Slicing Winds. On the undead turn it got a Ghostly Bite on the BFB. This was going to be close. When my Basilisk came in it Prisoned but then only hit two Thrashes to bring the BFB to 25 hp. Dang. After the Prison expired the Basilisk again hit only two Thrashes, one before and after Failsafe. I would have to take a hit. The Flame Jet didn’t kill the Basilisk so it was able to finish off the BFB with one Thrash. Phew.

I love the Basilisk. I was using my Broom/Basilisk/Crawling Claw team earlier, and faced a Murkalot/Val’kyr/Ancient team. It was a nice battle which my Broom ended up winning. Even on non-Beasts, Batter is pretty good. Had a Death Grip miss, and I thought I might be headed for the cliff…but CoD went off on the backlined Valk and I was able to get another off on the Ancient (I think) before the Claw died. I killed the Ancient off with Clean Up, and it was Batter up on the final 2 pets for the win.
