Today’s Team: Do You Even Rain
S/S Jademist Dancer (Steam Vent, Rain Dance, Cleansing Rain)
H/P Blighthawk (Slicing Winds, Ghostly Bite, Cyclone)
H/H Spirit Crab (Snap, Whirlpool, Shell Shield)

Strategy:
While using the Twister as a counter to Murkalot I developed more respect for Cyclone. At close to a one-third chance to hit each pet for 113 damage it can put up some decent numbers. The damage will be even better with the help of Rain Dance which will increase the accuracy of Cyclone to 85% and give it a 50% chance to crit. I chose Acid Rain to add some synergy between the Crab’s Whirlpool and the Dancer.

Concerns:
With two undead pets I could run into some trouble against critters. I think the Spirit Crab will be able to take care of that problem. Slicing Winds is a questionable choice in lieu of Infected Claw. I’m taking it because aquatics could be a problem.

The Opposing Team:
P/P Murkalot
P/B Kun-Lai Runt
P/S Living Fluid

The Battle:
112013AI wanted to get things started with a Cyclone but my opponent started with the Runt. I couldn’t resist the strong damage so I began with a Ghostly bite that hit for 947 damage. The Blighthawk got chilled on that round so I swapped to my Crab. The Runt missed its Deep Freeze then tried to Thrash but the Crab’s shields made that somewhat ineffective. A Snap and a Whirlpool finished off the Runt. Murkalot came in to use Falling Murloc and Lash to kill my Crab but not before it rooted the murloc with a Whirlppol. Murkalot RI’d itself (it was rooted) but never got to use the buff thanks to another Ghostly Bite taking it out. Now I brought in the Dancer versus the Fluid, the Fluid definitely got the best of the Dancer and its weak attacks. Even so, the Dancer was able to enough damage before dying so that the Blighthawk was able to finish off the Fluid with a Slicing Winds and Ghostly Bite. I never got to use my Cyclone :(.

The more I look at daily battles here, the more I feel the usefulness of the Spirit Crab. Now I just need to make the time to level it…

For the past week of testing out teams with cyclone you seem to really be avoiding the nether faerie dragon. I tested a few games with the sprite dart hatchling and it was a lot of fun, and successful. I guess the biggest weakness is going to be Idol, but you just dodge/cyclone and get out of there, then hope the rng goes your way with the jademist dancer.

I’ve been playing around with the Nether Fairie and Sprite Darter a bit, thanks for the reminder. So far they’ve been doing well.

I leveled my P/S Jademist based on your advice and wow…I can’t believe I’ve been letting him sit in the dugout. I was actually trying the exact same team as you last night except I had a Fossilized Hatchling in place of the Blighthawk.

I still haven’t leveled mine. I’ve been winning games using the S/S, I’m looking forward to seeing how my P/S does when I get around to it.

Sorry, I meant Sen’jin Fetish. Not Foss Hatchling.

I should mention that this is my new favorite team. I went on an absolute rampage last night with it, only losing twice out of around twenty battles.

does the cyclone make it work that well, or do you not use it, like the fight above?

    • Discodoggy says:

I usually use Cyclone every battle, the battle above was an exception. Barring a better course of action I start with Cyclone, then Ghostly Bite, then swap to the Jademist Dancer for Rain Dance. Then after a few Steam Vents or a Ven/ Acid Rain I go back to the Blighthawk to Cyclone, Slicing Winds till 0 hp then use Ghostly Bite on the undead turn. I’ve won a lot of battles without even needing the Crab. The buffed Cyclone damage is a big reason that it’s working so well.

I love clone dance teams now, but instead of the spirit crab I use a P/P Emperor Crab to counter valks and adders with Surge, one of the heals, and shield shell. Since Surge will be buffed by Rains, it hits pretty hard too.
