Pet Focus: Lil’ Bling (part two)

Check out the preliminary info here in part one:5/17/14 . Otherwise it’s straight to business with Lil’ Bling.

Team 2: Melted Diamonds
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)
H/H Scourged Whelpling (Tail Swipe, Death and Decay, Plagued Blood)
H/H Fel Flame (Flame Breath, Scorched Earth, Conflagrate)

I wanted to take advantage of the synergy between Make It Rain and Plagued Blood but I was starting to fear running into an Anubisath Idol or a shielded pet so I threw in a little burst with the Fel Flame. It’s not a lot of burst but Scorched Earth and Conflagrate might be able to get the job done against an idol, plus there’s some synergy between Flame Breath, Scorched Earth and Plagued Blood.

Battle 2
vs. Corefire Imp, Kovok, Clockwork Gnome
051814ANo shields, that’s good. My opponent’s plan was to use Wild Magic along with Turrets to cause some big damage. Rather than waste turns trying to avoid that combo I brought in my Fel Flame to eat the weak damage. Even with weak damage the Fel Flame still went down pretty quick thanks to Wild Magic. My opponent made the mistake of keeping the imp in too long, which allowed a Conflagrate to kill it, which meant no back line Immolation ticks. Lil’ Bling took out Kovok easily after the Fel Flame died. Overall it was an easy win. I keep telling myself that I’m going to get an H/P Fel Flame but I seem to have reasonable success with the H/H.
Record: 2-0

Team 3: Party Party Party
H/S Tiny Twister (Wild Winds, Bash, Call Lightning)
H/P Macabre Marionette (Macabre Maraca, Death And Decay, Bone Barrage)
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)

More lightning and barrage moves. Again, I’m afraid of shields. At least I can change the weather if I need to.

Battle 3
vs. Fossiliszed Hatchling, Stunted Direhorn, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
051814BThe mech dragon is turning into a major PITA. It is currently the second most common pet that I face and double block moves like Decoy make me want to cry. This time the Decoy wasn’t as much of an issue since I had Inflation to take it out if necessary, but it turned out that my opponent didn’t even bother. This was a super close battle that was going to be won or lost depending on how well rng treated the direhorn’s Horn Attack. Neither of the interrupts procced and I’m sure that was the difference as Lil’ Bling barely survived with 88 hp after using Failsafe. Phew.
Record: 3-0

Team 4: Frightening Trousers
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)
P/P Sen’Jin Fetish (Flame Breath, Wild Magic, Sear Magic)
H/H Armadillo Pup (Scratch, Shell Shield, Infected Claw)

I really wanted to use the Scourged Whelpling and the Sen’Jin Fetish together but I got too scared of critters. I was looking for something I don’t use much when I came across the Armadillo Pup (I only got as far as “a” lol). Infected Claw for the noob idols and Scratch for the undead. I don’t feel that secure with the Armadillo Pup, I’ve only made one good team with it and that was with a Fiendish Imp and Warbot. That’s not saying much since I could put an old sock with a Fiendish Imp and Warbot and still be successful.

Battle 4A
vs. Proto-Drake Whelp, Clockwork Gnome, Azure Crane Chick
I was thinking that this was going to be an interesting battle but then my opponent ran before even trying. I can’t help but be reminded of the quote from This Is Spinal Tap: “They see us on stage with tight trousers and we’ve got, you know, armadillos in our trousers. I mean, it’s really quite frightening, the size. They run screaming.” Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I think I’ll change the name of this team to “Frightening Trousers”.
Record: 4-0

Battle 4B
vs. Emperor Crab, Lil’ Ragnaros, Emerald Proto Whelp
051814DNo one went running in fear, but I would have been better off if they did. With both the EPW and Emperor Crab having shields Lil’ Bling was worthless against both of these pets. The only way Lil’ Bling could do any damage was against Lil’ Ragnaros and you can guess how that turned out. The Sen’Jin Fetish was able to take out most of the Emperor Crab before dying but I really should have saved some Wild Magic for the EPW since it was shielded too. I thought of swapping in Lil’ Bling when Wild Magic was up on the crab, but I assumed that my opponent would just swap to Lil’ Ragnaros. That may not have been a bad idea because my mech would have died quick but at least left the traplord with Shattered Defenses, plus I’d have more Wild Magic for the shields. I think it’s safe to say that I could have done better here.
Record: 4-1

Team 5: Fat Rocky
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)
H/H Scourged Whelpling (Tail Swipe, Death and Decay, Plagued Blood)
H/H Emerald Shale Hatching (Burn, Poison Spit, Stoneskin)

The plan is to get some healing from Plagued Blood combined with Make It Rain and Poison Spit.

Battle 5
vs. Tideskipper, Chrominius, Darkmoon Tonk
051814EThis battle pissed me off. I hate Chrominius. No, let me take that back. I love Chrominius because it is usually used for its howl bomb which rarely works in PvP. Right or wrong, I think “this person just came from PvE content and is going to try the same strategy on me”. Because of this I feel that I should never lose to Chrominius, unreasonable as that may sound. I don’t think I would have lost if it wasn’t for not one, but two Burn misses. Also, I didn’t have any avoid for the Geyser. That would have been fine except I was stunned by the Geyser then stunned the very next round by Shock and Awe. Resilience really needs to proc when you get stunned rather than when it wears off. When I lose and blame rng or stupid mechanics sometimes I feel like a sore loser, but that’s what happened. Hey, last battle I lost fair and square to a superior team :).
Record: 4-2

Team 6: Kleemann’s Krushers
H/S Tiny Twister (Wild Winds, Bash, Call Lightning)
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)
P/P Sen’Jin Fetish (Flame Breath, Wild Magic, Sear Magic)

More lightning fun with the Tiny Twister. This is probably the most successful Lil’ Bling team in my arsenal.

Battle 6
vs. Tainted Waveling, Fungal Abomination, Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot
051814FAgain with the damn stuns, this time in the form of Stun Seed. I had Sear Magic to deal with the first one, I had to eat the second with Lil’ Bling (who had Extra Plating up). It’s nice to see rarely used pets in the queue like the Tainted Waveling. It did a decent enough job with its DoTs and heal. I won this one, although I wouldn’t say it was easy by any means. I think seeing the Tainted Waveling is a good reminder that I need to do some branching out myself. In my last 112 battles I’ve only used 37 different pets. I’m sure there are some awesome teams out there waiting to be discovered. Perhaps I’ll even find a pet like Lil’ Bling who I discounted before giving it a real shot, only to find out that I really enjoy it.
