Pet Focus: Lil’ Bling (part one)
I mentioned yesterday that I’m getting a lot of use out of Lil’ Bling lately. This wasn’t always the case. When this pet was first introduced I used it but never really liked it much, I honestly don’t remember why. Perhaps I wasn’t using the optimal move set. As I faced Lil’ Bling in the PvP queue it seemed decent but never really that great. I think that a lot of the times that I’ve faced Lil’ Bling my opponents have used a move set that I don’t really like. This made me think that this is a mediocre pet but I finally came around and have had some success with Lil’ Bling. Which move sets have I been using?

Slot 1: SMCKTHAT.EXE or Inflation
I like Inflation and moves like it (Stampede, Swarm, etc.). It is dangerous since it locks you into a move for three rounds but the risk is worth putting Shattered Defenses on the enemy pet. I’ve been putting Lil’ Bling on teams with field effects or DoTs so that Inflation can enhance their damage. There’s also some synergy between Inflation and the other two moves.

Slot 2: Blingtron Gift Package or Extra Plating
I think one of the reasons I was initially turned off from Lil’ Bling was because of Blingtron Gift Package. It seemed like a new and interesting move, really it was, but I quickly found its random nature to be unreliable. What this move does is shoot off a 420 damage attack but with only a 50% hit rate. If the attack misses then Lil’ Bling is healed for 420 health. What happens is that sometimes you need the damage and instead you get healed and vice versa. Extra Plating is an amazing defensive move, especially since Lil’ Bling is fast and will most likely reap its benefits on the round it is cast. In slot 2 I’m going with Extra Plating. Casting Extra Plating before Inflation also makes getting locked into those three rounds a little less scary.

Slot 3: Make It Rain or Launch Rocket
The multiple attack nature of Make It Rain gives it great synergy with Plagued Blood and Call Lighting. Launch Rocket is the wiser choice to provide an attack with more damage but I like Make It Rain anyways.

The problem with this move set is that pets with Sandstorm or shields completely shut Lil’ Bling down. It’s risky but it’s not an auto loss if you face a shielded pet, you just need to make sure to let your other pets take out the shielded pet. It’s time to take Lil’ Bling to the queue.

Team 1: Imps Party Harder
H/S Tiny Twister (Wild Winds, Bash, Call Lightning)
S/S Lil’ Bling (Inflation, Extra Plating, Make It Rain)
S/S Fiendish Imp (Burn, Immolation, Nether Gate)

This is a Call Lightning team. Lil’ Bling really shines on this team thanks to both Make It Rain and Inflation causing lightning to strike with each little bit of damage done. The Tiny Twister is a pet that I ‘ve been pairing Lil’ Bling with a lot because of this.

Battle 1
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Kovok, Darkmoon Zeppelin
051714AThank goodness I have my Fiendish Imp. I was just saying today on the forums that I consider any pet with a double block a villain because I get so annoyed by these moves. Unless I have a Fiendish Imp on my team. I started with the imp which cast Nether Gate against the Unborn Val’kyr to start. The swap move hit then I started Immolation as the Unborn Val’kyr came right back in. I swapped to the Tiny Twister to get the lightning started. It took a Curse Of Doom on the swap then cast Bash and Call Lightning. I brought in Lil’ Bling to eat the Haunt then my opponent unwisely brought in Kovok. Maybe Pheromones and lightning seemed like a good idea, but all of that mech damage certainly wasn’t worth it. Kovok went down fast and from there it was an easy win.
Record: 1-0

I realize now that it was too ambitious of me to try and start a write-up like this at such a late hour. I’m going to have to finish tomorrow.

Inflation and Make it rain also gains bonus damage from Lightning for being mechanical attacks, so double bonus there. Lil’ Bling is one of the reasons I pretty much had to abandon the Scalded Basilisk Hatchling.
