Gone Wildin’
Time to queue up with only wild caught pets. Queue gods please be kind!

Battle 1: New Shinies
Spirit Crab, Sporeling Sprout, Imperial Eagle Chick
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Emerald Proto-Whelp, Kun-Lai Runt

030914CWell this seems like cheating because I run New Shinies all the time :). I absorbed a lot of the Haunt with my shielded Spirit Crab. The KLR was gun shy about using Deep Freeze which gave the battle an interesting flow. At one point my Spirit Crab came off the back line with 60 hp to eat the EPW’s Proto-Strike. The Imperial Eagle Chick was able to hit all three Thrashes on two separate occasions which adds up to some big time damage. Speaking of the KLR I’ve been thinking about a Kun-Lai Summit map team…
Record: 1-0

Battle 2: Kun-Lai Ropers
Kun-Lai Runt, Summit Kid, Tolai Hare Pup
vs. Kun-Lai Runt, Crimson Whelpling, Rabid Nut Varmint 5000

030914ENow I remember why I never made this team: I don’t have an S/S Tolai Hare or Pup. I decided to go with the map buddy theme and use my H/S. It didn’t matter at first glance since 322 speed was faster than all of the enemy pets. Then I realized the opposing KLR could slow my rabbit and I would lose the speed advantage, whereas a 357 speed would not lose the advantage against a P/P KLR. It was a moot point because my opponent fled early. After the Frost Shock on the Crimson Whelpling my opponent swapped to the KLR which got stunned by Deep Freeze. After a Takedown we slowed each other and my P/S was faster. I killed the KLR so my opponent decided to run away.
Record: 2-0

Battle 3: Disco’s Destroyers
Scalded Basilisk Hatchling, Spirit Crab, Mongoose Pup
vs. Harbinger Of Flame, Death Talon Whelpguard, Macabre Marionette

030914BI’ve lost so much more with my basilisk in 5.4 than I did in 5.3 that I’m almost afraid to run it. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw that not only were there no fliers (the bane of this team) but my basilisk was faster than all of the enemy pets. After Crystal Prison then Thrash I decided to stay in rather than Feign Death to see what the Death Talon Whelpguard would do. It had the misfortune (or should I say miss-fortune) of missing two Shadowflames in a row. Demolish called and wants its miss protection back! Thanks to the misses the Scalded Basilisk Hatchling had taken zero damage when the dragonkin died. After the Macabre Marionette was almost gone and I still hadn’t made a swap my opponent fled.
Record: 3-0

Battle 4: Jurassic Two
Scalded Basilisk Hatchling, Diemetradon Hatchling, Fel Flame
vs. Gilnean Raven, Pandaren Monk, Shimmering Wyrmling

030914AThree cheers for elementals! Initially I was concerned with the flyer against my two beasts but then I realized I have my Fel Flame. Why is this good? It will ignore the effects of Darkness. At least that’s how it’s supposed to work. Sometimes I can’t keep track of whats working and what isn’t if I don’t use it or encounter it a lot. I cast Quick Attack then took the weak Call Darkness with my Diemetradon Hatchling. Then I brougth the Fel Flame in and it dominated. Nocturnal Strike missed then my opponent swapped to the Pandaren Monk. Fury of 1,000 Fists didn’t stun. A few turns later the Gilnean Raven was back in to miss another Nocturnal Strike. After the flyer died Fury of 1,000 Fists didn’t stun again. By the time the Fel Flame was done the Pandaren Monk had about 100 hp left and the bird was gone. The two beasts cleaned up easily.
Record: 4-0

Battle 5: Jade Forest Jammers
Wild Jade Hatchling, Leopard Tree Frog, Shrine Fly
vs. Gilnean Raven, Pandaren Monk, Scourged Whelpling

And there goes the perfect record. There was just too much strong damage here with the flyer against my aquatic and every pet with strong damage against my Wild Jade Hatchling. Not to mention two weather pets against my one weather pet. It was still a close and fun battle.
Record: 4-1

Battle 6: Aqua Disaster
Spirit Crab, Robo-Chick, Eternal Strider
vs. Guardian Cub, Panther Cub, Nordrassil Wisp

Oh really? I chose my Robo-Chick and they chose the Guardian Cub. They ran. A lot of runners tonight. They’re making my record look better than I really am :).
Record: 5-1

Battle 7: Aqua Disaster
Spirit Crab, Robo-Chick, Eternal Strider
vs. Mr. Bigglesworth, Spineclaw Crab, Chrominius

030914DNice comeback! I won the first mind game with Ice Barrier so the first Ice Tomb was blocked. All I had to do was pass while the undead kitty swapped. Then the Spineclaw Crab came in to put a bleed on my Eternal Strider. No problem, I’ll swap like I always do. Then Blood In The Water hit my Robo-Chick like it always does. Of course that’s exaggerating but I really can’t remember the last time BITW missed. Mr. Bigglesworth came back in and I have to admit my opponent got the best of me with the threat of Ice Barrier. I was too scared to waste my Wind-Up. I really should have cast Overtune, duh. I ended up with a 300ish hp Eternal Strider and my Spirit Crab against an almost full health Spineclaw Crab and a full health Chrominius. Unleashing Pump and then a Water Jet were enough to take out the Spineclaw Crab and leave my Eternal Strider with 1 hp.  After a Water Jet to Chrominius my aquatic died. Hope was not lost, the undead crab could take Chrominius’ punishment. Chrominius cast Howl, Arcane Explosion then Surge of Power. No problem, except the Surge crit for 2200 damage. I thought it was surely going to be a draw but the Whirlpool hit high thanks to Cleansing Rain still being up which kiled the Dragonkin before my undead round. Nice.
Record: 6-1

It’s worth your time to grab a Tolai Hare and Pup S/S, they spawn in big packs of 1+3 so its rather easy to find. I’m impatient so I tend to use stones but if you need to level anyone it would be a reasonable grind.

Oh here’s a noob question for you, how do you know what they’ve chosen for skills? For example the ice tomb, do you just know because of experience or is there a way to see? I’d love an addon that shows cooldowns after a skill is used, so I can see easier when they’re going to use it again.

In the beginning of the battle I guess what moves they have based on the team composition. After a move has been used PetTracker keeps track of which moves there are and how long until each move is off CD. Lately it’s been a little wonky (like miscalculating the CD on Wish once) but usually I don’t have problems with it. I really like it and can’t imagine battling without it. PokemonTrainer does this and much more but I didn’t really like it, it took up too much space on my screen and gave me too much info, like which pets were faster than each of my pets, etc. I can imagine people really liking this but I like to do those types of comparisons myself.
