Five Wins Or Bust
My meta has been tough tonight. Without my top teams I’ve probably been winning less than usual. I think I’ll have to bring some better teams if I want to get to five wins quick.

Battle 1 (All Buzz Cons)
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Fledgling Buzzard
vs. Crow, Unborn Val’kyr, Emperor Crab

030814AI’ve been replacing the H/H Fledgling Buzzard with the harder hitting P/P Imperial Eagle Chick on many teams but for this team I stuck with the 1806 hp bird. The reason why is because the Imp is somewhat fragile when its out front. I’d rather keep the bird alive longer so the Imp can stay on the back line doing damage. The Warbot was awesome in this battle. It laid a Minefield then cast Extra Plating for the Haunt and Curse of Doom. The Emperor Crab came into the mines then died to three Missiles. I wasn’t able to get another Minefield down but my opponent Haunted when they shouldn’t have. I killed the flyer before Haunt was done for the win.
Record: 1-0

Battle 2: Battlegropers
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Snarly
vs. Elder Python, Spineclaw Crab, Crimson Lasher

030814BI lost to an Elder Python and Crimson Lasher, shame. Really it was the Spineclaw Crab that gave me the most trouble. It was close at the end, if Blood In The Water hit low I would win with my own BITW then Surge, if it hit high I would lose. It hit high.
Record: 1-1

Battle 3: A New Hope
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Sen’Jin Fetish
vs. Wild Crimson Hatchling, Son Of Animus, Sunreaver Micro-Sentry

030814CThis was a great match-up for me and an easy win overall. I didn’t even need to use my Sen’Jin Fetish. The Fiendish Imp cast Nether Gate on the dragon to start then back lined for Immolation damage. Those strong ticks really hurt the mechs as my Warbot fired off Missiles and Minefields. The dragon never cast Call Lightning due to fear of my DoT (I’m assuming).
Record: 2-1

Battle 4: My Middle Finger
Unborn Val’kyr, Treasure Goblin, Imperial Eagle Chick
vs. Elder Python, Spineclaw Crab, Crimson Lasher

030814DThis was interesting battle because with this team I usually completely own my opponent or get owned myself. This one, however, was very close. The Unborn Val’kyr barely did any damage because it was always going against the aquatic. That’s fine, the Imperial Eagle Chick was a damaging maniac. The Treasure Goblin’s Wild Magic forced my opponent to swap rather than take the extra damage so I gained a lot of extra turns.
Record: 3-1

Battle 5: New Shinies
Spirit Crab, Sporeling Sprout, Imperial Eagle Chick
vs. Fossilized Hatchling, Anubisath Idol, Darkmoon Turtle

030814EI didn’t want to take the back line damage with my Sporeling Sprout so I started against the Fossilized Hatchling. Thanks to Crouch and the undead raptor having Claw as it’s spammable attack my Sporeling Sprout was able to kill it. Then things went horribly bad. I got stunned by three Ruptures and one Headbutt. I missed two snaps and a Whirlpool. It’s hard to win like that. Good job Demolish spamming Idol user.
Record: 3-2

Battle 6: Beige Bandits
Qiraji Guardling, Living Sandling, Direhorn Runt
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Lil’ Deathwing, Menagerie Custodian

030814FAfter stunning then using Sandstorm against the Unborn Val’kyr with the Qiraji Guardling I swapped to the Direhorn so I could completely shut down Haunt with Trihorn Shield. Instead of Haunt there was going to be an Unholy Ascension coming. Things worked out just right for me when the Direhorn died on the turn that it killed the Unborn Val’kyr. My Qiraji Guardling stunned the Unborn Val’kyr then killed Lil’ Deathwing. The Living Sandling easily finished off the mech.
Record: 4-2

Battle 7: Acorn Berserkers
Infected Squirrel, Rabid Nut Varmint 5000, Grizzly Squirrel
vs. Spineclaw Crab, Elder Python, Jademist Dancer

My opponent had to take a risk by using BITW without bleeding. Okay, a Spineclaw Crab beat me twice. Time to snipe.
Record: 4-3

Battle 8: Bet On Black
Gilnean Raven, Gilnean Raven, Warbot
vs. Magical Crawdad, Death Adder Hatchling, Arctic Hare

I lost more than usual tonight but getting to stomp all over a Magical Crawdad and a Death Adder Hatchling made it all seem okay. I’m not a big fan of Darkness and the Gilnean Raven but this was a nice victory. Perhaps I’ll try out some more Darkness teams after this fine showing.
Record: 5-3

Now that the Dread Hatchling is available, time to create your darkness team!
