Today’s Team: Blizzy McSurgester
P/P Rotten Little Helper (Ice Lance, Booby-Trapped Presents, Call Blizzard)
B/B Tiny Snowman (Magic Hat, Call Blizzard, Deep Freeze)
H/P Tundra Penguin (Surge, Slippery Ice, Ice Lance)

Strategy:
Tonight I was bored of the same old pets and teams when I came across my Rotten Little Helper team from Christmas (12/25/13). I ran that team for a few games but decided that two humanoids is too risky in this Val’kyr infested meta so I switched to the Tundra Penguin. I ended up getting most of my ten Tuesday wins with this team. This is a team that utilizes the weather Blizzard. Both Ice Lance and Deep Freeze benefit from the weather Blizzard. Blizzard gives Ice Lance a bonus secondary attack and Deep Freeze is an automatic stun if it hits. Surge can help against fast pets, Slippery Ice might cause a few misses but the real icing on the cake is Booby-Trapped Presents which is another version of Minefield. The strategy is to throw down the presents, put up Blizzard then use the moves that benefit from the weather.

Concerns:
Critters might be a problem with all of this elemental damage along with their racial ignoring the stun. This is a very slow team. Since I’ve been running it so much tonight I might start to see some counters.

The Opposing Team:
P/S Pandaren Fire Spirit
H/P Ruby Droplet
P/S Zao

The Battle:
030414AI was concerned about the two elementals ignoring the weather but then I realized that Slippery Ice makes pets chilled so the elementals will still get stunned and hit with a double Ice Lance. I started with the Rotten Little Helper and Booby-Trapped Presents then I swapped right away to the Tundra Penguin. It was able to take out the Ruby Droplet before the Booby-Trapped Presents expired with Slippery Ice and Ice Lances. The Booby-Trapped presents crit the Pandaren Fire Spirit when it came in. It used Flamethrower and Conflagrate but surprisingly the Tundra Penguin was able to take out this elemental too. Then it died to a Flamethrower tick. Zao was easy enough after that since I was able to stun the beast with Deep Freeze before it was able to cast Wish.

I have a basically identical team that’s been one of my favorites, but I’ve stopped playing it since the nerf to Belly Slide (I know, I’m a bad person). You’ve reinvigorated my desire to play this team now, so thank you.

My first ever game with this team was against 3x Anubisath Idols. Idol walking into Presents, then eating a Deep Freeze, Blizzard & Magic Hat and dying without getting to even take a turn made me fall in love with this team.

I have to admit I enjoyed playing my broken roll them dice team.

Roll Anub Idol with broken Demolish
Them Tiny Snowman for synergy with
Penguin ( forget which one now ) for broken belly slide.

I would play this team whenever I would get owned by a broken Demolish Idol. Rather than get frustrated ( which i do ) I embraced the RNG and the brokenness. Also, the plan was to try and get others so mad about the broken 50% to hit abilities that they would join me in my petitioning of Blizzard to get them fixed. I figured anyone hit by 4 straight demolishes and/or belly slides would get as mad as me and go to the forums and whine with me. I don’t know if it helped, but I do think the stink I made did get Demolish fixed sooner than it otherwise would have.

And I am so delighted now when I face Demolish Idos and Robo Bear cubs. It is still dangerous, but when they miss half the time instead of 1/4 of the time, it is fine. I always imagine the people currently using demolish not knowing that they have been fixed and being upset when they miss all the time.

I was worried that Deep Freeze was going to miss to much at 85% accuracy but so far rng has been kind to me. Eventually I’m sure I’ll get frustrated at a game winning Deep Freeze missing.
