Today’s Team: Elemawhatnows
P/P Dread Hatchling (Shadow Talon, Call Darkness, Anzu’s Blessing)
H/H Scourged Whelpling (Tail Sweep, Call Darkness, Plagued Blood)
P/S Gilnean Raven (Peck, Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike)

Strategy:
I was going to do a longer write-up on something today, but I made the mistake of playing Hearthstone. And here I thought that pet battles were addicting, that game is even worse! Before I went down that evil path of card gaming I made this team and was having some success with it. Maybe you’re sick of hearing about the Dread Hatchling but I’m still loving it. The Scourged Whelpling on this team provides some coverage against magic pets, some beefiness (hp) and another Call Darkness. The strategy is to cast Anzu’s Blessing then make my opponent feel the pain with the hard hitting birds. The Scourged Whelpling will soak any nukes. Hopefully the enemy pets go down hard and fast. I should mention I got the silly name from someone trying to counter me with three elementals, two with Jade Claw. It didn’t work.

Concerns:
Once again I need to mention that the flyers are fragile. If I can’t take out the enemy pets fast I won’t win. Darkness is always a concern. Missing and losing under my own Darkness is somewhat embarrassing. Anzu’s Blessing will help with my accuracy for a few turns.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Anubisath Idol
S/S Lil’ Bling
P/P Kun-Lai Runt

The Battle:
031514ASeventeen rounds seemed like a long battle for my bird team. The battle started with the Anubisath Idol versus the Dread Hatchling. Anzu’s Blessing/Shadow Talon/Call Darkness/Shadow Talon wasn’t enough to take out the idol before my bird perished. If you’re wondering why I held off on Call Darkness it was because I wanted to make sure the dog-faced dummy didn’t have Deflection. My Gilnean Raven finished off the idol with Peck before Lil’ Bling came in. Now I’m in risky territory, if the mech has Blingtron Gift Package my bird will be in a world of pain. It did have the magic gift, but it missed and thanks to Darkness it healed for only half. I was trying to decide if I needed to swap out to the Scourged Whelpling but instead my opponent swapped to the KLR and went for a lucky Deep Freeze. It didn’t stun. I thought I was headed for an easy win but Peck missed a kill shot due to Darkness. This allowed the KLR to slow then kill my second flier. Not to worry, the Scourged Whelpling finished of the KLR and Lil’ Bling with a lot of hp to spare. These birds are good. Time to get back to Hearthstone lol.
