Today’s Team: Bolt Automatic
P/S Yu’la (Jadefire Lightning, Celestial Blessing, Life Exchange)
P/P Crimson Geode (Feedback, Amplify Magic, Elementium Bolt)
H/H Spirit Crab (Snap, Surge, Shell Shield)

Rationale:
Celestial Blessing is such a good idea. It allows low hp pets to stay alive for a few extra rounds to get their damage off. At least that’s how I like to use it. Here the low hp pet is the P/P Crimson Geode. It really needs that shield to stay alive with its 1319 hp and 244 speed. The plan is to send Yu’la out to do some light AoE while setting up the Celestial Blessing then bring in the Crimson Geode for some hard hitting 357 attack pain. The Spirit Crab is there because, well, it always seems to be there. Just kidding, I needed some soaking ability.

Concerns:
Yu’la can be very ineffective with the move set that I’ve riskily chosen, especially if I can’t keep her in as the first pet. I’ve been using the Harmonious Porcupette more lately as a safer choice, but to me it’s also a more boring choice. Elementium Bolt is a scary move, so scary that people will be sure to swap in any avoidance pet so it can be ineffective against teams with avaoidance.

The Opposing Team:
P/S Yu’la
P/S Fossilized Hatchling
P/P Yellow-Bellied Frog

The Battle:
UntitledI ran a Yu’la/Fossilized Hatchling combo not too long ago. Someone on my meta sure liked the idea because lately I run into this combo quite often. I started with the Crimson Geode to get the bolt up. Then I swapped in Yu’la for some double dragon action. We both AoE’d and refreshed Celestial Blessing. I thought I would come out the winner but the opposing Yu’la survived with 11 hp. Luckily only Celestial Blessing was off CD (there was one Life Exchange used somewhere in there) so I was able to take out the dragon with a Feedback. The Fossilized Hatchling came in and cast BONESTORM. The Crimson Geode was able to get off an Elementium Bolt, but the shield was still up when it hit so it really wasn’t that effective. When my crab came in it only had 600ish hp from all of the AoE and could barely take out the Fossilized Hatchling. The toad came in to gloat on the Spirit Crab’s undead round. I guess I brought it on myself with my good idea :). It was an interesting battle that I didn’t really mind losing.

Reminds me of my goto anti-magic pet Lil’ Deathwing (Tail Sweep, Roll, Elementium Bolt). I find those big hits are useful to simply force your enemy to use the avoidance move and then you get to hit all the other times.

I have really bad luck with using the Geode. If I run stone rush on it, well…it hits incredibly hard but kills itself incredibly fast, even with Yu’la buffing it (I tried all sorts of things with Yu’la when I got her). If I use elementium bolt I run into people with dodge moves all the time.

I guess it’s just not a match that’s meant to be, for me.

Reminds me, I still need to locate a crawdad so I can re-attempt running with yu’la/spectral porcupette/crawdad. Using a magic lamp in the 3rd slot doesn’t work as well as I’d prefer, since the sear magic can be counterproductive and it’s wish is meh.
