Today’s Team: Gu’chi Crew II
S/S Fiendish Imp (Burn, Immolation, Nether Gate)
H/H Gu’chi Swarmling (Swarm, Acid Goo, Dive)
P/P Imperial Eagle Chick (Thrash, Adrenaline Rush, Lift-Off)

Rationale:
I leveled up a Gu’chi Swarmling today and have been really impressed so far. Its first pairing was with a Fiendish Imp and I haven’t moved on since. Acid Goo and Swarm have such great synergy with Immolation. I tried numerous third pets before finding that the Imperial Eagle Chick is good mix of fun and effectiveness. Not the greatest team but I’ve been enjoying it.

Concerns:
I’m not sure how this team will handle the big boys. The Gu’chi Swarmling is good against Unborn Val’kyrs and the eagle is good versus snakes but against good players with team synergy I’m not too confident with this trio. Nether Gate misses often result in losses.

The Opposing Team:
B/B Unborn Val’kyr
S/S Death Adder Hatchling
S/S Qiraji Guardling
Eww.

The Battle:
In the right hands the valk/snake/guardling team is brutal. I’ve been owned hard by it in the past. I saw this team and thought I was in trouble. I started with the Imperial Eagle Chick with the hope that the adder would start. It did. I’m feeling verbally deficient at the moment (it’s a late night after a day of basketball and replanting one of my aquariums) so I’ll do it this way:

072614BRound 1: Thrash(2)/Blinding Poison
Round 2: Lift-Off/Poison Fang (miss)
Round 3: swap to valk/Lift-Off
Round 4: Thrash(3)/Curse Of Doom
Round 5: Thrash(2)/Haunt
Round 6: Thrash(3)/Crush
Round 7: Sandstorm/Adrenaline Rush
Round 8: Lift-Off/Crush(miss) (CoD miss)
Round 9: Lift-Off/Crush (eagle died)

I would like to point out that at this moment the valk was at 28 hp, the guardling was at 403 hp and the snake was at 970 hp. Good birdie!

Round 10: Burn/Blackout Kick
Round 11: swap to valk
Round 12: Nether Gate (valk to 0 hp)
Round 13: Blinding Poison/Immolation
Round 14: swap to Gu’chi Swarmling/Poison Fang
Round 15: Puncture Wound/Acid Goo
Round 16: Poison Fang/Swarm
Round 17: Poison Fang (Gu’chi Swarmling dies)
Round 18: Blinding Poison/Burn (DAH dies from Acid Goo tick)
Round 19: Immolation/Blackout Kick
Round 20: Crush (guardling dies from Immolation tick)

I said in the right hands this team was crazy. In this battle it was not in the right hands. My opponent made a number of questionable calls with the biggest mistakes being letting the valk die on the back line and casting blinding poison when the snake was going to die anyways from the DoT. The true star here was the Imperial Eagle Chick. Hitting the two Lift-Offs certainly helped with the win, as did the Gu’chi Swarmling surviving round 17 with 11 hp. I stopped using the eagle for a while but I’m really liking it again.

Almost feels like one of my teams. But I’m not sure I would have dared to go without a wild magic/black Claw or weather change.

Nice to get a win from that game. Really proves that the player matters as well as pets chosen. But two lift-off hits, thats just awesome. I only count lift-off as avoidance with possible bonus damage.
