Today’s Team: Jurassic Three
P/P Stunted Direhorn (Trihorn Charge, Horn Attack, Trihorn Shield)
H/S Scalded Basilisk Hatchling (Crystal Prison, Feign Death, Thrash)
P/P Diemetradon Hatchling (Quick Attack, Triple Snap, Ravage)

Rationale:
Last night I was looking for a fun team to run when my dinosaur team caught my eye. I played once and won, then again, then again. Unbelievably this team has been winning a lot. I’m sure favorable match-ups in the queue have been helping me, but it’s nice when you can put a themed team together that can win a few. The direhorn and basilisk are both good pets. The Diemetradon Hatchling is surely the weak link here with Triple Snap as its bread and butter move. 100-66-33% moves are some of my least favorite in the game. It does often pull its weight with Quick Attack. When the beast racial is activated it hits for upwards of 330 which isn’t too shabby for a priority move. As powerful as Primal Cry is I still prefer the super defense of Trihorn Shield on this team as it needs a bit of defense. Last battle my direhorn absolutely wrecked a DAH thanks to the powerful shield and valks should think twice about Haunting.

Concerns:
It goes without saying that I don’t want to run into any mechs. Trihorn Charge is out of my rng comfort zone at 85% accuracy. Triple snap is also very rng dependent.

The Opposing Team:
H/P Darkmoon Tonk
S/S Fiendish Imp
B/B Unborn Val’kyr

The Battle:
070114AI didn’t give myself much of a chance coming into this. With Minefield and Ion Cannon that tonk was going to make me suffer. I started with the basilisk versus the tonk. After being imprisoned it swapped to the valk. I cast Feign Death to avoid the CoD. No damage had been done yet but I got the valk to waste the CoD, maybe there’s hope. I brought in the Stunted Direhorn and I just had to go for the Horn Attack interrupt but it didn’t proc. Now Haunted, I cast Trihorn Shield to mitigate the damage as the now active tonk threw down a Minefield. The Direhorn managed to hold its own for awhile against the tonk and take off a lot of hp from the mech. Missile was only hitting for around 270 and one of them missed. Hmm, what I thought was almost a certain loss was getting interesting. The imp was brought in to gate out the direhorn. It took a Horn Attack on the swap and then a priority charge before forcing the poor Diemetradon Hatchling into the mines. 901 damage, ouch. The beast racial was activated and I knew the Diemetradon Hatchling could take one Burn before having to use a weak Quick Attack. Triple Snap, don’t let me down… it let me down, hitting only once.

070114BAfter the Quick Attack and death of my first dinosaur I brought the Stunted Direhorn back in then my opponent swapped to the valk which took a charge on the swap. A Horn Attack brought it to 0 as it applied CoD. Next round we cast Trihorn Shield and Haunt. Both the tonk and the imp had taken some damage but my opponent still had an Ion Cannon and Minefield in the pocket. The tonk came back in. I swapped as it laid it down another Minefield, willing to sacrifice my direhorn to the mines if I needed to. It turned out to not be a factor since later it died from CoD. Now it was up to the basilisk. It cast Crystal Prison so the tonk swapped. The imp took only one Thrash on the swap. Only one more Thrash was needed to kill the imp. Now I needed to get lucky with the basilisk versus tonk. My first Thrash hit two then a Missile brought me within cannon kill range. My only chance was to cast Feign Death as the Ion Cannon came. I feigned… a Missile. I now had no hope of bringing the tonk to 0 and finishing off the 325 hp after Failsafe. My basilisk made a valiant attempt as it hit all three Thrashes, bringing the tonk to around 140 hp after Failsafe. So close, but it was time to take an Ion Cannon to the face… BUT IT NEVER CAME! Another Missile brought my basilisk to less than 100 hp before I finished off the mech. What? That win came out of nowhere. Why the cannon never came I’ll never know, perhaps it was equipped with Lock-On instead.
