Today’s Team: Serving Cleavage
P/P Servant Of Demidos (Magic Sword, Siphon Anima, Lightning Shield)
H/H Weebomination (Cleave, Consume Corpse, Haymaker)
P/S Yu’la (Breath, Celestial Blessing, Lift-Off)

Rationale:
The Servant Of Demidos hits hard. As I like to do with many hard hitting and low health pets I paired it with Yu’La so it can benefit from Celestial Blessing. I went with the conservative Yu’la move set instead of the riskier (but more fun) Jadefire Lightning and Life Exchange. Since both pets have such low health I wanted a third with some beef, the Weebomination fills that requirement nicely. Come to think of it, so would the Pygmy Cow. Maybe next time. I haven’t decided if I like Lightning Shield or Soul Rush more in the third slot for Servant Of Demidos. I’m going with Lightning Shield for now since mechs soft counter Magic Sword; if I encounter any they’ll have to be concerned about the elemental damage from the shield. The plan is to start with Yu’la to get the Celestial Blessing going then swap to the Servant Of Demidos. Hopefully the shields will help it stay alive long enough to put out some serious damage.

Concerns:
With two low health pets my team is extremely vulnerable to AoE damage.

The Opposing Team:
P/S Wild Golden hatchling
P/B Clockwork Gnome
H/P Darkmoon Tonk

The Battle:
010515AI succumbed to seeking glory! I knew the Call Lightning and Turrets combo was coming, so rather than stick to my plan I thought of all the extra damage the weather would do in combination with my AoE. I went for it, but the extra damage wasn’t really that much. Plus I got countdown glitched for a round, although I can’t blame that for the loss. Even with that extra turn of damage I wouldn’t have been able to take out my opponents pets before my own pets died.  After the Weebomination died my two remaining pets fell fast and hard to the lightning augmented Turrets.  It’s kind of cool to see a very old strategy still working occasionally. I was having much more success with the Servant Of Demidos before I tried to pair it with Yu’la.

I really missed my Spirit Crab’s shields in this battle. Curse the person whose idea it was to nerf 95% moves!

    Hiya
I’m glad to see your daily battles up and running in the new year here. Your contest idea has taken off well and it’s great to see all the participation.

I have to say that your ‘daily battles’ feature keep me visiting your blog regularly.
Your comment about the sunflower/crawdad team fleeing :
“Whenever sunlight teams run away angels throw kittens cocktail parties, it’s true.”

This is what I call vintage material !
    Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I was once again reminded of my dislike of sunlight teams today when I lost to a Blossoming Ancient. I think sunlight teams are at the top of my most hated list at the moment.
