Five Wins Or Bust
Today I just feel like queuing up and knocking out some battles. How long will it take to get to five wins?

Battle 1: Return Of The Brain
Tiny Twister, Kovok, Scourged Whelpling
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Alterac Brew Pup, Crawling Claw

012414GI’m not that huge a fan of Lightning but sometimes it’s fun to change things up a bit. The Val’kyr is one of the best defenses aganist an AoE team like mine so I was a little bit worried. Even with the Val’kyr Haunting and avoiding the AoE damage I was able to squeak this one out due to two things: a lucky miss and bad play. Seriously, why do people continue to apply Curse of Doom when it’s not necessary? I had not one but two Curses not go off because the pet died before four rounds. I will admit it is sometimes a tactic to keep the current enemy pet in play rather than swap (because no one wants to die uselessly on the back line to a Curse) but it is still often wasteful. The battle was heading for a draw when the Val’kyr missed at the end. I’ll take it, I know I’ve been on the other end of that situation enough times.
Record: 1-0

Battle 2: A Bloody Dream
Darkmoon Rabbit, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Mini Thor, Oily Slimeling, Resilient Roach

012414CIt was cool seeing some pets that I don’t see often. It wasn’t cool watching the 95% accuracy Maul miss a bleeding Mini Thor. Thor had Toxic Smoke rather than Minefield which made him much tamer. Thor also had Launch Rocket which I was able to avoid with my DMR. The Infested Bear made amends by Mauling the bleeding Slimeling. Bash is so damn useful, even on a slow pet. I still laugh at myself for using Hibernate as long as I did. When I run one of my top teams and get a fun team I start to feel like a bully. Time to tone it down a bit.
Record: 2-0

Battle 3: Winterspring Warriors
Alpine Hare, Robo-Chick, Rabid Nut Varmint 5000
vs. Nexus Whelpling, Water Waveling, Nether Fairie Dragon

012414HThis was a really fun battle. The mechs were weak counters to all of the magic damage and the Waveling was a strong counter to the mechs. The rabbit was a weak counter to the elemental damage. The Waveling had a speed reduction for my fast crew. So many counter meant that there was a lot of swapping, a lot of strategy. Once I took out the Waveling the magic damagers were easy enough to finish off.
Record: 3-0

Battle 4: Ratty Dread
Black Rat, Scourged Whelpling, Robo-Chick
vs. Fiendish Imp, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, Bonkers

012414BI’m really glad that the Robo-Chick has made it back into my rotation of pets. Not only is it fun and underused but it can be quite useful at times. Overtune helped my Chick to get off some triple Batters when it would otherwise been slower than the Imp. The Rat got some good heals from its DoT and Plagued Blood. As well as my plan was working this battle was still headed for a draw but a Breath miss gave me the win. That was actually the second of my opponent’s 90% misses. It seems like rng is favoring me tonight.
Record: 4-0

Battle 5: Disco’s Destroyers
Spirit Crab, Scalded Basilisk Hatchling, Mongoose Pup
vs. Gilnean Raven, Crow, Crow

012414AUtter hilarity. Whenever I queue with Disco’s Destroyers I think “please no birds, please no birds”. You can imagine my joy at seeing this team I had to face. It didn’t help that both a Dive and a Prison missed. I killed one bird and got another to 1180 hp haha. Owned!
Record: 4-1

Battle 6: Frank Rizzo
Fiendish Imp, Scourged Whelpling, Son Of Animus
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Chi-Chi, Xu-Fu

012414FSo much for rng being on my side. I missed the Nether Gate on the Val’kyr and took a Curse Of Doom with my Imp. Bad news. I swapped in Animus to soak the Haunt but it never came. My opponent chose to use Unholy Ascension on the turn the the Curse was going to hit the Imp. The Curse didn’t kill the Imp but now the Val’kyr was gone. Uhh, ok. I’m not sure that was worth giving up 1k hp and your undead racial. Chi-Chi came in so I swapped to the Scourged Whelpling. The heals from Plagued Blood, Death and Decay plus Tail Sweep beat out Tranquility and Chi-Chi. Xu-Fu finished off the Scourged Whelpling but was easily dispatched by Animus. That wasn’t played very well by my opponent. Maybe they are new, or just trying new things, or maybe even watching television. Who knows.
Record: 5-1
