The Quick Three

Battle 1: Channel Zero News
Nightshade Sproutling, Frostwolf Ghostpup, Spectral Porcupette
vs. Personal World Destroyer, Gilnean Raven, Hydraling

011915DI’ve been messing around with the S/S Nightshade Sproutling here and there, mostly with darkness teams. This one has had reasonable success, mostly due to facing mediocre competition. I thought that I might have trouble winning this battle since I just fought this team a few battles ago. They weren’t going to be surprised by Spectral Strike hitting the bird for massive damage nor would they cast Quake, leaving the mech exposed to the elemental’s strong damage. At least that’s what I thought. I was wrong; both of those things happened again. This battle was actually closer than previous due to my opponent using Shell Armor more effectively, but that wasn’t enough to make up for all of my strong damage.

Battle 2: Forest Squires
Forest Sproutling, Frostfur Rat, Junglebeak
vs. Anubisath Idol, Unborn Val’kyr, Brown Rabbit

011915AI’m in the mood for sproutlings. The plan here is to use Refuge on the Forest Sproutling to help the critter, then the critter can cast Call Darkness to help the bird. The selfish Junglebeak helps nothing. It just kills stuff. The fact that I won this battle against a such a formidable team makes me think my own team is decent, even though just about every rng call went my way: the rabbit missed it’s Burrow, my Forest Sproutling won the coin toss against the 325 speed rabbit, and most importantly both of the Junglebeak’s Rain Dance buffed moves crit. Damn, I hope that doesn’t mean I’m in debt to rng.

Battle 3: Ripgrinder
Stonegrinder, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Stonegrinder, Zomstrok, Blighted Squirrel

011519EI made a questionable call during this battle which made it too close for comfort. After the Blighted Squirrel used Woodchipper on my Stonegrinder I knew that Stampede was coming next. The Blighted Squirrel was bleeding and would soon be locked in to a three round move. I could either swap in my Snarly for the BITW or the undead bear for Maul. I chose to go with the bear even though Stampede would be strong against it. I thought that the bear could take out the Blighted Squirrel in one round rathe than two and plus I didn’t want to “waste” Snarly’s priority Surge against an undead pet. The undead bear took a lot of damage but was indeed able to take out the Blighted Squirrel with one attack and a bleed tick. Still, I’m not sure if it was worth all of the damage that it took. The last round was a nail biter: if the Screeching Gears procced the stun I would lose, otherwise the Infested Bear would finish off the enemy Stonegrider. The stun didn’t proc so I was able to escape with a narrow victory. My rng debt increases.
