Five Wins Or Bust
I feel like bringing the good stuff today.

Battle 1: Axe Me Later
Mechanical Axebeak, Ore Eater, Ghastly Kid
vs. Singing Sunflower, Emperor Crab, Emperor Crab

011415GIf ever there was a reason to spank someone publicly in the town square, bringing a Sunlight team to the PvP queue is it. If I didn’t have Peck to do strong damage against the crabs there would be no way to bring this team down. Even then it took 35 rounds and was a close affair. My Ghastly Kid survived with less than half health. I would love to see Sunlight and Photosynthesis nerfed in the future. I’m not saying that it needs to be nerfed (at least not now), but I would like to see Photosynthesis do less healing just because I hate it so much. It’s not going to happen so I should stop my whining. Running into a team like this on the first battle will surely skew the teams that I pick for the rest of the battles.
Record: 1-0

Battle 2: Samebird
Firewing, Son Of Sethe, Fel Flame
vs. Silkbead Snail, Kun-Lai Runt, Sandy Petrel

011415JSee, I brought not one Scorched Earth, but two just in case. Thankfully there was no flower to contend with. There was a crazy snail that was perfectly catered to pound my team with a critter, magic and aquatic attack. How unlucky was that? The super snail wasn’t enough to earn the win though. Touch Of The Animus and Scorched Earth provided too much healing.
Record: 2-0

Battle 3: When Cows Burn
Pygmy Cow, Son Of Sethe, Fel Flame
vs. Murkalot, Blackfuse Bombling, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling

011415BThat last battle was fun enough for me to want some more Son Of Sethe and Scorched Earth action. This time I had to face a much tougher opponent. I’ve seen the Murkalot and BFB combo do incredibly well in many circumstances, yet it still irks me when I see people RI to the BFB then cast Armageddon on the first round. From a numbers standpoint I understand that it does more damage than the health that the BFB is losing, but I don’t like the fact that the pet is sacrificed in one round. Hey, why am I complaining, it makes for quicker battles. In addition to quick this battle was close. After the the BFB sacrifice the MPD came in to drop the Decoy. I made sure to not waste any CDs on the Decoys, but I must admit that the battle was decided by the extra round I gained when Udder Destruction procced the stun. The cow survived with less than 200 health. /shame
Record: 3-0

Battle 4: Kovokination
Kovok, Weebomination, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
vs. Murkalot, Blackfuse Bombling, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling

011415AEww, this nasty team again. I really don’t like how the interaction of Decoy and AoEs is so inconsistent. Armageddon will count for two hits against Decoy and one for the remaining pet while Cleave only counts as a single hit. So when the RI to Armageddon went off it took out my Decoy and killed my Kovok yet it took two turns of Cleave for me to break through the Decoy. Lame. I still managed to win. Cleave did a lot of strong damage to Murkalot. My MPD survived with 68 health and a Failsafe. So many close battles tonight.
Record: 4-0

Battle 5: Oh The Terror
Fiendish Imp, Sen’Jin Fetish, Teroclaw Hatchling
vs. Royal Peacock, Leopard Tree Frog, Sun Sproutling

011415FIn preparation for the BFB again I brought my Fiendish Imp. There was no BFB to contend with, only this kiss and hope team. At least I’m assuming that the strategy of this team was to ensure the frog was faster with Dazzling Dance then hope for a Frog Kiss proc. It didn’t happen and the battle turned out to be an easy win for me. It’s about time after all of these nail biters! I’ve recently strayed from the imp and mask combo because there are so many new pets and teams to try. When I do use it it’s still as good as ever, and the Teroclaw is a good stand alone third pet.

I too get annoyed when people toss away their bombling on the very first turn it’s out.

I mean surely it would be better to at least have it out for a few rounds first. As long as it doesn’t die when you switch it back in with RI you can still armageddon ._.

    • Vek says:

I guess the problem is RI choses the pet with highest Health to switch in, so then you actually have to plan around that to get the Bombling in after taking damage for some turns.

Have Armageddon been changed to “Avalanche”-type AoE as well? Otherwise if your opponent loses a pet in advance, then Armageddon with lose 1/3 of it’s Power.

But, yes I agree with you both, it does feel like a waste.

    • Wiff says:

Indeed, if you use the bombling until it gets low then you need to hard swap to your third and let that drop before finally using RI very late in the game. At this point there’s no way you’ll be able to use a second RI to buff another AoE or Falling Murloc. Add in the fact that the Beast which you’ve spent 4 turns pummeling would have been one-shotted at the start and you’ve pointlessly put yourself way behind.

  2. Liwei says:

Is it really a fixed switch in? I’d always assumed you could pick.

That aside I think I’d rather RI in a flame vent than armageddon in most cases.

  3. Tekulve says:

If I run a Murkalot team with BfB, I go Armageddon if there are any beast pets, if not I like vent..esp if a mech pet is the opponent’s active pet…also if facing elementals..armag is weak vs elem
