Today’s Team: Axe Me Now
S/S Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (Breath, Thunderbolt, Decoy)
S/B Ore Eater (Acid Touch, Shell Armor, Body Slam)
H/H Ghastly Kid (Hoof, Ethereal, Haunt)

Rationale:
Axe Me Now is a variation on this team: 1/11/15. The MPD doesn’t provide the coverage that the Mechanical Axebeak provided. Instead it comes with an even split AoE move and it gets to keep its speed for the entire battle (as opposed to a flyer). The plan is to start with Haunt then bring in the Ore Eater for the Shell Armor or the MPD for the Decoy. Both will give the Haunt ticks some time to do damage.

Concerns:
The Ore Eater and the MPD are both in that awkward speed range that is faster than every pet except for fast pets (325+ speed), which means that fast pets could give me trouble. Another concern is that I’ve been racking up too many wins with the Ore Eater; I’m starting to feel like I’m abusing a broken pet. Shell Armor feels like it’s blocking more than it should.

The Opposing Team:
P/P Brilliant Bloodfeather
P/P Golden Dawnfeather
H/P Untamed Hatchling
There’s some speed alright. I’m not sure where the dragonkin fits in.

The Battle:
011315AI was worried about speedy opponents and here’s two birds. It’s not as bad as it seems since both have a low health pool. I needed to get rid of the their speed as fast as possible. The Brilliant Bloodfeather started against my Ghastly Kid. There was no reason not to Haunt so that’s what I did first. The bird gave itself a crit buff. I brought in the MPD on the free swap so that I could use Decoy while Haunt chipped away. After a Decoy and Thunderbolt I swapped to the Ore Eater. My humanoid was faster now that the flying bonus was gone, but not for long since Drain Blood gave the bird enough health back to reinstate the speed. No problem, I had used Shell Armor so there was some extreme protection in place for my humanoid. The Ore Eater easily took out the Brilliant Bloodfeather without taking much damage since Peck only hit for 131 normal damage and a 196 crit.

011315BThe Untamed Hatchling was in next, bad idea. It went down fast courtesy of strong Body Slam damage. Now it was the Golden Dawnfeather’s turn to be routed by the Ore Eater. Guess what birdie? Shell Armor completely shuts down Quills. I’ve had a lot of face roll wins like this these past few days. I must have gotten really, really good all of the sudden. Either that, or… nevermind. I’ll just continue my innocent whistling while I try a few more Ore Eater teams.
