Challenge Mode
When I decided to change up the daily I mentioned that I would start doing challenge mode again. Challenge mode is where I queue with my best teams and keep playing until I lose. I don’t like to play with these teams all the time because it gets old facerolling people with the top pets. Once in a while it should provide a nice change. Since it’s Tuesday people will probably have their best teams so there might be some interesting games.

Battle 1: Obvious Ponies
Unborn Val’kyr, Fiendish Imp, Warbot
vs. Amber Moth, Clockwork Gnome, Lil’ Bling

I have no problem sticking it to a moth with one of my top teams. While not as dislikable as Idols those fliers are really annoying. If they hit Moth Dust and sleep they can be difficult to deal with. Well this time I had a top team. Sure you put my shielded Warbot to sleep, no biggie. The Imp versus the two mechs wasn’t pretty. I probably shouldn’t have used my favorite top team to start, it’s all downhill from here.

Battle 2: Do You Even Rain
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Spirit Crab
vs. Kun-Lai Runt, Zandalari Toenibbler, Fossilized Hatchling

The poor little Zandalari Raptor and its 1237 hp barely made it out by the end of the battle. I probably could have gotten by only using the Blighthawk and Dancer but my Blighthawk was chilled and I didn’t want to give away the free stun so I brought in the Spirit Crab to finish things off.

Battle 3: Born To Be Crabby
Spirit Crab, Dandelion Frolicker, Death Adder Hatchling
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Lil’ Ragnaros, Terrible Turnip

020414HThirty-three rounds of Haunt stalling fun. It took twenty-two rounds for the Val’kyr and its buddies to kill off my Spirit Crab. The Val’kyr was almost dead. I let it Haunt my Death Adder, which was scary but the Death Adder still survived the battle. One of Rag’s traps detonated on the Spirit Crab, the other was dodged by the Dandelion Frolicker. That dodge was the difference that allowed me the win because this one was close. I could have been more aggressive with the Frolicker versus the Val’kyr in the beginning but I thought it prudent to let the shielded Spirit Crab try to weather both Sons as much as possible. It worked, but I got lucky on the trap.

Battle 4: Battlegropers
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Snarly
vs. Lil’ Bad Wolf, Darkmoon Tonk, Direhorn Runt

020414AThis was a fairly easy battle except for the fact that my opponent let the timer run down each time. By some of their choices I assumed they were a new player, so hopefully the timer business was due to thinking hard rather than poor sportsmanship. The CloneDance strategy is so damn brutal. Having Snarly as a sweeper makes this team amazing.

Battle 5: Trihard Shield
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Stunted Direhorn
vs. Dancing Water Skimmer, Darkmoon Monkey, Son Of Animus

020514FAs if it wasn’t bad enough facing an Imp and Warbot combo my opponent missed a Pump at the beginning of the battle. The Darkmoon Monkey got Nether Gated into the Minefield and was easily dispatched afterwards. The Dancng Water Skimmer and Son Of Animus made a valiant attempt at a comeback but it didn’t happen. The Stunted Direhorn left the Son Of Animus debuffed for the Imp. Burn hit for 1k+. Tonight I’m certainly the bully on the block.

Battle 6: Electric Pickles
Fiendish imp, Death Adder Hatchling, Spirit Crab
vs. Cat, Untamed Hatchling, Celestial Dragon

What has two thumbs and likes bullying Cats with Death Adders? (points thumbs at self) This guy! Maybe tonight wasn’t a good night to for a challenge mode after all. I’m not exactly facing the cream of the crop here. As you would expect this battle wasn’t close at all. The Imp cast Nether Gate and Immolation then let the Death Adder loose to almost take out the entire team.

Battle 7: You Got Goosed
Jademist Dancer, Blighthawk, Mongoose Pup
vs. Kun-Lai Runt, Scourged Whelpling, Lil’ Ragnaros

I fear Magma Trap. Apparently I should fear Conflagrate too since it totally took me off guard and killed my Jademist Dancer prematurely. Thanks to all of my Slicing Winds hitting when I used it I was still able to win without using the third pet. The battle only lasted ten rounds. Thankfully I don’t face too many CloneDance teams. They’re scary.

Battle 8: Mechanical Pickles
Fiendish imp, Death Adder Hatchling, Warbot
vs. Alpine Hare, Voodoo Figurine, Tiny Flamefly

020414GI was being very cautious at first because I was afraid of the Voodoo Figurine casting Sear Magic and cleansing the Minefield and blind in one fell swoop. After I found out it had Rot instead I threw down the Minefield. The Alpine Hare didn’t give the Adder any trouble because it was 322 speed. So far there’s been no real competition besides the Val’kyr, Lil’ Ragnaros and Terrible Turnip. I have to say it’s a disappointing night.

Battle 9: Total Cheese
Unborn Val’kyr, Stitched Pup, Death Adder Hatchling
vs. Nexus Whelpling, Spirit Of Competition, Electrified Razortooth

Haunt and Consume Corpse is so hard to deal with. The Nexus Whelpling made sure I only got to use Consume Corpse once by taking out the Pup quicker than I expected. That combined with an Infected Bite miss made this a little bit closer than expected. It still wasn’t that close.

Battle 10: Pho Cough
Fiendish imp, Spirit Crab, Warbot
vs. Wild Jade Hatchling, Clockwork Gnome, Tolai Hare Pup

020414CBack when I did challenge mode every day I never got to ten wins in a row, this is a first. The rabbit gave me some serious trouble, I sometimes overestimate the Spirit Crab’s ability to take out critters. It did a good job against the rabbit but not a great job. Plus I made some wrong moves when I assumed what my opponent would do then they did something else. This team was strong enough to pull out the win.

Battle 11: Righteous Ravaging
Murkalot, Elementium Geode, Ravager Hatchling
vs. Anubisath Idol, Unborn Val’kyr, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling

020414DWhen you’re hot you’re hot! I was basically trying to throw the battle by playing with a fun team, instead I won. Pretty much everything that could go right went right. I hit all of my Rends and all of my Sparks. Plus my opponent didn’t make the best moves. The battle really should have ended in a loss or a draw because the battle wrapped up with an 800 hp Murkalot against a 668 hp Val’kyr. I hoped the Falling Murkalot wouldn’t hit low… it killed the Val’kyr. Like so many people have done in the past my silly opponent put Curse Of Doom on Murkalot. Why, why, why? Now instead of being able to kill Murkalot on the undead round and force a draw I was able to win.

I think that I’ll have to call it a night. I really wasn’t planning on winning this many in a row. I need to do something else. Eleven wins is my new high score, not too shabby.

Final Score: 11
