Today’s Team: Moondoggy
S/S Nether Fairie Dragon (Arcane Blast, Evanescence, Moonfire)
H/P Infected Squirrel (Stampede, Creeping Fungus, Consume)
S/S Moon Moon (Moon Fang, Crouch, Moon Tears)

Strategy:
Tonight has been an annoying night. I started out playing some Moonlight teams and was getting beaten handily by the usual suspects: Idols, Val’kyrs and Death Adders. I started playing my counter teams, made a new counter team, kicked some but with it, decided to do the write up on it, kicked Mr. Slow’s (a common enemy of mine) butt with it, started the write up then realized I was incredibly bored. I wanted to try something new but the meta had forced me into something boring. Then I remembered that I don’t have to win every time for pet battles to be fun. So after deleting my original writings here I am, back to a Moonlight team. The plan is to put up Moonlight with either the NFD or Moon Moon then swap to the Infected Squirrel for the Creeping Fungus and Stampede combo.

Concerns:
Mechanicals are a soft counter to all of this magic damage and a hard counter to Moon Moon. The first team I made with Moon Moon had an Imp for this reason, but as I mentioned before I’m tired of the same old pets.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Unborn Val’kyr
S/S Death Adder Hatchling
H/S Kovok

The Battle:
021014BIt takes more to win than the top pets. This player showed that by handing me the battle with a big mistake. They swapped out with the Death Adder right after I applied Creeping Fungus. They could have blinded my but didn’t. Okay, that’s a little too brief. Moon Moon started and was able to survive for seven rounds thanks to Crouch. While Moon Moon was alive it did some decent damage with Moon Fang. I’s a sketchy move to use due to its 85% accuracy but all of them hit. The Squirrel was next, it applied Creeping Fungus then my opponent swapped to Kovok, eventually letting the Adder die on the back line. Pheromones was cast then the Val’kyr came back in. Stampede did a good job against the Val’kyr. The Infected Squirrel and Val’kyr died on the same round. The NFD finished off Kovok thanks to Evanescence and the dragonkin racial.

Here’s a pretty cool screenshot from the first battle:

That screenshot is awesome man. No offense, but I don’t know what’s better, your screenshots or the battles.

That’s funny, I’ve played around with almost the exact same team (except my Moon Moon is PP). I ran into the same problem you have, though, that I just can’t seem to buy a win against all the valks and death adders. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.

That’s where my frustration came from last night. Sometimes you just want to try an interesting or different team and the meta won’t let you, as was the case with this team. I think this win was a fluke, I don’t think that Moonlight comps are ever going to do well right now. I haven’t tried it much though.

I’m with you, I’m bored to tears of the lack of variety on my meta. I can play CloneDancer and win 95% of the games all day long against the boring Valks/Sunflowers/Whateverpetcanstall that plague my meta, but I’d like to also be able to play something else.
