Five Wins Or Bust
I’ve been getting pounded today. AoE teams are proving to be quite difficult to deal with, especially Weebomination teams. I got tired of losing so much so I started playing some of my better teams, a lot of them from 5.4. I’m still working on the POTW teams, I’ll be done tomorrow. For now I’m gonna bring some good teams so I can survive in today’s brutal queue.

Battle 1: A New Hope
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Sen’Jin fetish
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Lil’ Ragnaros, Nordrassil Wisp

122014CMan I hate losing with my good teams. This team countered mine pretty well, but it was the stupid trap that was my downfall. I was eating the Sonds of the Flame with my shielded Warbot (which may have not been the best strategy :)), waiting for rag to play his hand. Magma Wave or no Magma Wave? The Warbot was still alive after rag used Sulfuras Smash, meaning that I was safe to throw the Minefield. From there I should have been fine, except no mines were thrown thanks to the trap going off before my Warbot could do the deed. Even though the Sen’Jin Fetish had strong damage against the wisp I couldn’t pull off the win due to the imp being countered so hard by the valk.
Record: 0-1

Battle 2: Beige Bandits
Qiraji Guardling, Direhorn Runt, Living Sandling
vs. Unborn Val’kyr, Lil’ Ragnaros, Nordrassil Wisp

122014FThis wasn’t just a revenge win, this was a revenge spanking. The win would have happened anyways; the spanking was due to three sandstorm misses. I started like I always do against valks: Kick, Sandstorm, swap to direhorn (which usually takes the CoD) then Trihorn Shield. Good luck doing big damage to a shielded direhorn in a sandstorm. Lil’ Ragnaros didn’t throw the trap this time, I have no idea why. Without the OP trap rag is just another low health high power pet. I didn’t need to use my elemental.
Record: 1-1

Battle 3: Dreadful Memories
Droplet Of Y’Shaarj, Scourged Whelpling, Spirit Crab
vs. Celestial Dragon, Emerald Boa, Waterfly

122014II had to hold off on Acid Rain since the dragon had its own weather. After the Celestial Dragon cast Moonfire on the first round I was safe to implement my my plan of casting Acid Rain then Dreadful Breath. It worked like a charm. The Spirit crab was needed as a sweeper to Surge the Emerald Boa and Waterfly but not much more. My favorite undead pet survived with all of its 1887 hp. If AoE becomes as prevalent as it seems it might then expect to see more Spirit Crabs on my back line, maybe two at a time.
Record: 2-1

Battle 4: A Bloody Dream
Darkmoon Rabbit, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Creepy Crate, Emerald Boa, Waterfly

122014AI think it’s safe to say that I’m out of the danger zone as far as facing super powered AoE teams goes. This was a really easy win. By some of the choices made I could tell this is a new battler, plus the Creepy Crate was of uncommon quality. During this battle I realized that I should go back to using the undead bear/Snarly combo; my biggest beef with the bear was Infected Claw misses and now those are gone. I know you hate the way it looks, so Astra avert your eyes from the infestedness!
Record: 3-1

Battle 5: Talanerds
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, Royal Peacock, Nexus Whelpling
vs. Frosty, Junglebeak, Onyxian Whelpling

122014EI thought I was done for in this battle. My opponent was way ahead due to a crit that took out the peacock before I could use the Feign Death effectively. A crit can make such a huge difference if it takes a pet out a round too early. The MPD ended up helping me with an awesome comeback. I had a full health MPD and a very low health Nexus Whelpling against an Onyxian Whelpling and a full health Junglebeak. Here’s how it went down:

Round 10: Decoy – Tail Sweep
Round 11: Thunderbolt – Healing Flame
Round 12: Breath – Tail Sweep
Round 13: Breath – Tail Sweep
Round 14: Breath – Lift-Off
Round 15: swap to Nexus Whelpling – Lift-Off
Round 16: Thunderbolt – Healing Flame
Round 17: Breath – Tail Sweep
Round 18: Breath (Onyxian Whelpling dies)
Round 19: Decoy – Rain Dance
Round 20: Slicing Wind – Breath
Round 21: Thunderbolt (bird dies)

Ok, that totally fails in conveying the epicness of the MPD at the end of that battle. The MPD is good.
Record: 4-1

Battle 6: Transcend
Fiendish Imp, Argi, Weebomination
vs. Frostfur Rat, Gilnean Raven, Widget The Departed

122014BYes! I’m very happy to lose this battle. Why? I named the S/S Frostfur Rat as a potential counter to the imp in my must have WoD pets article, and here it is working just as I hoped it would. Phew, at least I got something right. My biggest failure of that article: putting the H/H Crimson Spore on that list. I can barely win a battle with that thing. My theory crafting license needs revoking after that blunder. Back to this battle, the rat was faster than the imp and has a non-critter attack. That non-critter attack is Darkness, which gimps the imp’s healing. Argi was slower than every pet on the opposing team making his speed move worthless. Thanks for beating me!
Record: 4-2

Battle 7: Ripgrinder
Stonegrinder, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Anubisath Idol, Nexus Whelpling, Mongoose Pup

122014DI made the wrong call in the beginning. I thought that the Nexus Whelpling would start so I came with my mech to absorb the weak Mana Surge, but instead the idol came out. It cast Rupture and stunned my Stonegrinder then the battle went down hill from there. My bleed team never got a Maul or a Blood In The Water off against a bleeding opponent. The idol has been taken down so far in my opinion that I’m not even going to talk about how much I hate him. Instead I will say that I’m glad to see the Mongoose Pup get a win. Nice job!
Record: 4-3

Battle 8: Don’t Bite Me Bro
Fiendish Imp, Sen’Jin Fetish, Spirit Crab
vs. Molten Corgi, Kun-Lai Runt, Jademist Dancer

122014HNo timed! All three of my pets survived this battle. This is still one of my go-to teams in the new expansion. The Sen’Jin Fetish proved its worth once again by cleansing the Geyser. Now back to World Of Altcraft and my nine garrisons, wth. Actually I need to get back to the POTW teams, I still have a significant number of battles to do. Don’t worry, it’s fun been fun so far.
Record: 5-3

I’ve run into quite a few AoE teams myself, mate, so I feel your pain. In response I created a ‘group heal’ team, an experimental approach to my woes. In honor of an old rocker that I used to listen to, I call it “Ikky Pup.”

Frostwolf Ghost Pup (Scratch, Haunting Song, Ghostly Bite)
Alterac Brew Pup (Bite, The Good Stuff, Call the Pack)
Ikky (Savage Talon, Black Claw, Flock)

It went 9-0 yesterday, surprisingly. With Ikky the quick hard hitter and all the damage buffs, interspersed with the occasional heal to counter the AoE shots, the extra undead round, and the beast racial buff, it did much better than I thought. It will be interesting to see how it holds up as the meta stabilizes; maybe it will need tweakin’. Who knows?

Granted, there seems to be quite a few new players in pet battling, but I faced the Weebomination, Fossilized Hatchling, and tons of thunderbolts, and laughed at them. Metaphorically speaking, of course.;)

Thank you for leaving the disgusting bear out of your screen shot. Much appreciated!

I know I should level mine up and use it on one of my three bleed teams, but really…!

Hahaha, it really is probably the most disgusting thing in WoW. Anytime I have him on a team I’m careful to not accidentally summon him.

      He kicks butt though!
