Today’s Team: Electric Pickles
S/S Fiendish Imp (Burn, Immolation, Nether Gate)
S/S Death Adder Hatchling (Poison Fang, Puncture Wound, Blinding Poison)
H/H Spirit Crab (Snap, Whirlpool, Shell Shield)

Strategy:
I felt like making a powerful team today. All three pets are awesome PvP pets. The general strategy is to use the Imp to force good match-ups and cause missed turns. The Crab will soak damage and put out a decent amount of damage itself. The Death Adder will blind, damage and possibly sweep. There’s not a ton of synergy here, just three solid pets.

Concerns:
I need to make sure that I don’t try to Gate out a pet while it’s rooted from Whirlpool. It used to be possible to force swap through roots but it was changed in 5.4.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Unborn Val’kyr
P/S Zandalari Toenibbler
S/S Lil’ Bling

The Battle:
120213AThe Val’kyr started, of course. The plan was to Gate it out but the Gate missed. Now I have a Haunted Imp and I’m looking that Toenibbler in the face. A Black Claw would be the end of my Imp so I swap to the Death Adder (I was saving my Crab for Lil’ Bling). The Adder takes the Claw on the Swap then uses Blinding Poison. Poison Fang, Puncture Wound then another Poison Fang was enough to take out the low hp raptor. The Val’kyr had finished Haunting the Imp and came out to face the Adder. Another blind and the Adder was at it again, taking a lot of hp from the Unborn Val’kyr. By the time it died and the Imp Gated out the Val’kyr it was almost dead. It swapped back in to avoid dying on the back line, but ended up dying on the turn it swapped in due to Poison. I let it kill the Imp on its undead turn. I now had the final match-up I wanted: Crab versus Bling. Bling’s DoT and multi attack were somewhat useless against the shielded Crab, the Crab came out on top easily for the win.

Hey Disco…just wanted to say, nice win, again. :) I look forward to these posts every day, heh. Reading this is a nice break from life. Just wanted to ask you…have you tried or considered trying out the following ability set for the Death Adder? Vicious Fang/Crouch/Blinding Poison.

I’ve had some good success with those moves, and been able to synergize nicely with a Chi-Chi and Jademist Dancer of late. I just wanted to know what you thought of those other two, lesser used moves. :)

I haven’t tried that set but I’ve had it used against me a few times. It made the Adder even harder to kill. And it was able to keep hitting Vicious Fang at the maximum for awhile. I’m glad you’re still enjoying the daily battles :)

      • Luthorien says:

Heh, it’d be a hoot if one of those times was against me, lol. I not only enjoy reading about the daily battles, I’ve also been taking notes and using some of the teams you’ve had successes with. That, or I’ve made variations of them to wreck my battlegroup’s meta with. >:D

I think my favorite team of yours is the “Pho Cough.” Now that I’ve finally accepted that power leveling 2 pets a day through the Pandarian trainers is, in fact, the best way to do so…I finally got my Warbot and Spirit Crab up to 25 and have been surprising quite a few people with the sheer nastiness of Minefield (which, incidentally, used to be my most hated ability in battles).

One of the opponents I faced with Pho Cough was someone using Snarly/Infested Bear Cub/Warbot. Actually, I’m not 100% on if it was a Warbot, or a Clockwork Rocket Bot…but either way, they used the same basic comp. It was fun slaughtering it! :)

I too have won a lot of games using the Pho Cough team, but my all time favorite is the Jademist Dancer, Blight Hawk, Spirit Crab team. I like to use a lot of different teams. Since its winter I use, Tiny Snowman, KLR and Tundra Penguin (or Mr Bigglesworth). My bleed team has Pierre, Electrified Razor, and Warbot in it which is so funny to beat someone with.

    • Luthorien says:

Yah, it is winter, isn’t it? :) One of my teams is Frosty/KLR/Wolpertinger…so I guess that kinda sorta fits, heh. Dancer/Blighthawk/Spirit Crab does sound pretty lethal…may have to try that out sometime. Definitely gotta find a way to weave in a Snowman and/or Penguin though, no doubt. I could do that Pierre/Razortooth/Warbot team…that’d be pretty cool, too. Appreciate the ideas, Nom. :)

No thank you, Luthorien. It’s cool that I get to see your thoughts and Disco’s. I read a lot of both your post on the forums.

    • Discodoggy says:

It’s good to see Pho Chough getting some action on both of your metas. My favorite winter team is Frosty/KLR/ Penguin. Your Pierre teams look fun, I still haven’t picked one up. What I really want for my bleed team is an S/S DMR, but who doesn’t lol.

      • Luthorien says:

Frosty/KLR = mean … and it looks like I’m gonna have to make a new team w/Pengu as the 3rd. I love my Wolpertinger to soak opposing stun bombs, rare as they are, but the Penguin needs to see more action on my meta. :)

The Pho Cough has lost a couple times, but the first time was due to me playing badly…and the second was just pure bad luck getting what was basically a hard counter TEAM (not pet, team) to it, heh. Stars aligning badly is bad. At least against the team I lost through my own fault, I came back and got the ‘ol revenge victory!
