Today’s Team: Bloody Mummers
H/P Snarly (Rip, Surge, Blood In The Water)
H/P Infested Bear Cub (Infected Bite, Hibernate, Maul)
S/S Death Adder Hatchling (Poison Fang, Puncture Wound, Blinding Poison)

Strategy:
Since yesterday’s battle I’ve caught the bleed bug. Snarly and the Infested Bear are once again racking up the wins. For this team I’ve gone over the top and given them a Death Adder third. The plan is to use Rip to apply the bleeding effect then hit the enemy hard with Blood In The Water and Maul. The Death Adder is one of the most difficult pets to deal with right now wih its 341 speed and (usually) two round blind. This team has done quite well for me so far.

Concerns:
I don’t have a counter for Death Adders, which are the most common pet on my meta right now (with Val’kyrs in second). I really hate deciding the battle with a coin flip deciding which Adder goes first. Win or lose it feels hollow. Flyers will be problematic.

The Opposing Team:
P/P Harbinger Of Flame
P/B Imperial Eagle Chick
H/H Lost Of Lordaeron
There’s that flyer I was concerned about.

The Battle:
121313AI’ve battled this team a few times before and each time they’ve started with Cyclone then Lift from the Eagle. I put Snarly in hoping my opponent uses the same opening. The Eagle starts by casting Cyclone as Snarly Rips. I swap to the Bear as the Eagle Lifts. Thank you for being predictable, now the Eagle has to take the bleeding Maul. The Lift lands and so does the Maul, but it’s weak damage so both Maul hits combine for less than 500. After a few Thrashes from the Eagle and a few Infected Bites the Eagle is gone. I was going to swap out the Bear but realize the Lost of Lordaeron usually runs with Arcane Explosion. My Bear wouldn’t survive more than one so I keep it in until expiration, taking off some hp from the ghost in the process. I wanted to put the Adder in next but somehow I clicked on Snarly, oops. I had to Rip/swap/blind/swap to deny the ghost its undead racial. That may have been unnecessary but I wanted to spread the damage out between Snarly and my Adder. I also wanted to make sure that the Adder could come in with both its blind available and be within killing range of the Harbinger. After the ghost expired Snarly Ripped then Surged twice, bringing the Harbinger down far enough so that the Death Adder easily finished the battle.

Not a massive fan of that Infested Bear Cub in your bleed teams. Good to have an anti-humanoid attack but other than that quite slow, and you’ve said yourself in other posts that getting locked into a three round heal like Repair or Hibernate leaves you at the mercy of any decent opponent.

Of the other pets with Maul, I have subbed in Curious Wolvar Pup. Now that trap has been fixed you can use him guilt-free and he packs a wallop. Give it a go. I called the team “I’m bloody trapped”. It sounds good because I’m English.

      How has trap been fixed?

The undead bear is definitely replaceable with either the Electrified Razortooth or the Curious Wolvar Pup. I still think it’s a good pet for a bleed team. At some point I stopped using Hibernate and went with Bash instead. I used to think Bash was worthless on a slow pet but it has come in handy a few times, by either giving an extra turn for Maul to refresh or to swap to a different pet. I certainly think that Bash > Hibernate now.

I’m also unaware of any recent changes to traps, although I would certainly welcome some changes.

Yeah I can’t remember what prompted me to say that trap had been fixed. I must have gone through quite a few encounters with both my and opponents’ traps where they hadn’t immediately gone off and had realistically taken five or more rounds to trigger.

In any case, the Curious Wolvar Pup’s trap doesn’t seem OP to me, so I use it guilt-free.
