Today’s Team: The Usuals
S/S Robo-Chick (Batter, Overtune, Wind-Up)
H/H Spirit Crab (Snap, Whirlpool, Shell Shield)
H/S Scalded Basilisk Hatchling (Crystal Prison, Feign Death, Thrash)

Strategy:
I’ve been trying to make some new basilisk teams and keep ending up with teams that I’ve used in the past. It’s sort of funny, I’ll make a team, play a few battles then think “wait, this seems familiar” and scroll down to find it in my 5.3 teams. That’s how I ended up playing The Usuals. I like this team because the Robo-Chick covers a big weakness of the crab and basilisk combo: flyers. While not a true counter to flyers, Overtune can out speed most birds then Wind-Up can make the flying racial go away. It doesn’t always work out like that, but it has often enough to make me think of the Robo-Chick as an anti-flyer.

Concerns:
With this many multi-attacks I should worry about Sandstorm and shields. A missed Wind-Up can often lead to a loss. I really wish it was a 100% accuracy move.

The Opposing Team:
S/S Death Adder Hatchling
H/H Emperor Crab
B/B Festival Lantern

The Battle:
041814AThe battle started with the Robo-Chick against the Emperor Crab. The Robo-Chick used Batter until the shield went up then spammed Wind-Up. You might think the mighty Emperor would win this head to head, but the Robo-Chick ended up killing the aquatic. The Death Adder Hatchling was brought in so I swapped to my Spirit Crab. The Blinding Poison came immediately. I decided to keep my crab in and eat the damage from Puncture Wound with all of that 1887 hp. After the blind wore off the snake took a Snap and then swapped out for the lantern. Then there was a lot of swapping with me avoiding the Flash while blinded by the Festival lantern and trying to avoid another Puncture Wound. I ended up bringing the Robo-Chick in as a sacrifice to a Puncture Wound. The Spirit Crab killed the snake with a Snap and the basilisk killed the lantern. These old basilisk teams are fun and can still be useful.
