Today’s Team: My Pal Ikky
S/S Fiendish Imp (Burn, Immolation, Nether Gate)
P/P Sen’Jin Fetish (Flame Breath, Wild Magic, Sear Magic)
P/S Ikky (Quills, Black Claw, Flock)

Rationale:
I’m getting all competitive today. This team should do very well. The imp and mask combo is just as strong as it ever was and Ikky adds a new level of damage enhancement. Actually two new levels: Black Claw and Flock. Now there are three moves that will add to the damage of Flame Breath and Immolation, all the imp has to do is get the fire started then go kick back on the back line while it gets healed and does debuff enhanced damage. I’ll start with the imp, swap to the fetish then play it by ear. I’ll use Nether Gate to thwart whatever plan that I sense my opponent is planning to implement.

Concerns:
Although not as much of a concern with all the debuffs, sandstorm and shields will still give my DoT team trouble.

The Opposing Team:
H/H Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling
S/B Phoenix Hawk Hatchling
S/S Red Dragonhawk Hatchling

The Battle:
112514AAs far as themed teams go the triple dragonhawk one isn’t bad. With Flamethrower and multiple Conglagrates along with the dragonkin racial it can dish out some damage. I was a little bit frightened going into the battle. My imp started by gating, although it may have been wiser to wait until a dragonkin racial procced. Instead I took damage with the imp until the proc happened, then I swapped in and ate the damage with my fetish. The mask took out the first dragonhawk but was brought to zero health in the process. Damn, I was losing. To make matters worse the Phoenix Hawk Hatchling came in to use Lift-Off to avoid damage on my undead round. I brought the imp back in to refresh Immolation and eat the damage portion of Lift-Off. I swapped to Ikky and my opponent swapped to the Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling. 1806 is a lot of health to deal with, but the Black Claw/Flock combo took the dragon out quick. Immolation ticks do 413 damage in that situation. The Phoenix Hawk Hatchling came back in to finish of Ikky, but the faster imp won the battle with two Burns. It was a very close battle. I didn’t even have to worry about misses, it was sort of weird.

I’ve been toying with the idea of using Ikky myself. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who noticed the potential!

What do you think about using him on a clonedance team as the cyclone setter? Sure he doesn’t bring the punch of a blighthawk since he lacks ghostly bite, but black claw can punish a swap as they’d proceed to get shredded on the back row from the cyclone.

Or do you think that would be too ‘all in’?

I definitely think it would work. They’d have to back line the pet with Black Claw and it’s fun imagining what a Cyclone crit would do to a back lined pet with Black Claw on it.

I haven’t looked into the living Frostwolf Pup yet. Maul, Howl and Flurry would be useful, although Flurry might be risky due to the 289 speed. Have you tried it yet?

I’ve been busy getting ready for raiding (that is my primary focus) so I havn’t found time to do much with pet battles outside of the menagerie dailies so far.

My offer to get you a pup to try out remains, if you don’t have one already.

Thank you. I do have my garrison set up for my orc DK but I’m not sure how far I’ll get with him. I’ll keep that offer in mind.
