Today’s Team: Frosties
P/P Frostwolf Ghost Pup (Scratch, Refuge, Ghostly Bite)
S/S Frostfur Rat (Flurry, Crouch, Stampede)
H/H Lifelike Mechanical Frostboar (Missile, Pig Out, Decoy)

Rationale:
Today on the auction house I saw a really cheap Lifelike Mechanical Frostboar so I snatched it up without knowing the breed. It turned out to be an H/H. All three breeds (it also comes in S/S and P/P) have their merits, the H/H is the tanky 1725 hp version. My first thought was to put on a sunlight team, but as I started to make it I remembered that I don’t really like trolling people with sunlight teams. Nerf Photosynthesis please! Ok, that’s not gonna happen just because I don’t like but you can’t keep me from hoping. With sunlight out I tried a few moonlight teams that worked well enough, then I started to miss my Frostwolf Ghostpup so I thought “time for a themed team!” And Frosties was born. I’m not sure how well the mech pig would really do in the snow, I hope he doesn’t short circuit. The plan is to use Refuge and Decoy for defense as needed then use Pig Out for keeping the boar alive. Pig Out is a beast healing/damage move that can be used every other turn. It’s really the only thing special about the mech pig besides its high health pool and how that interacts with the mech racial. I hope I don’t regret putting this pet on my must have list at Adventures in Poor Taste. Piggy you can do it!

Concerns:
There have been a lot of imps around. If an imp avoids Ghostly Bite there are not a lot of attacks capable of killing it.

The Opposing Team:
B/B Gilnean Raven
H/H Fel Flame
H/H Silkbead Snail

The Battle:
112314AI started with the undead puppy against the snail. I immediately used Ghostly Bite to take a good chunk of health away from the critter. I didn’t bother with Refuge since the snail might have a shield, making my rat useless. I swapped out to the pig because of this, with the hope that the snail would stay in. It stayed in for a war of healing attrition. It was a battle of Absorb versus strong Pig Out. Headbutt didn’t stun, the Decoy kept the snail from a few rounds of healing and the strong attacks won. The Fel Flame came in so I got my mech out of the battle right away in favor of the rat. I cast Crouch and withstood the fury of the Fel Flame’s weak attacks. The Fel Flame was able to do enough damage that DoTs killed it but the rat had done a number on the elemental.

112314BI brought in the Frostwolf Ghostpup to face the Fel Flame. My opponent swapped to the raven. I didn’t want to leave my mech pig to the strong attacks of the Fel Flame so I swapped it in now to face the raven. The swap fest ended there as the bird laid into my mech with its big damage, finishing it off in a few rounds. It wasn’t really looking good for me. I brought in my final pet to eat a Nocturnal Strike before finishing the bird with a Ghostly Bite (it crit for over 1k damage but it wasn’t needed, such a waste). The Fel Flame cast Scorched Earth on the turn my ghost dog was stunned, then I realized that I may be able to win after all. Would my opponent try to finish me off this round with a Conflagrate? I cast Refuge hoping that the Conflagrate would come… and it did! With the Fel Flame’s major attack blocked it lacked the, umm, firepower to finsih off my undead puppy. A Scratch and a Ghostly Bite took out the elemental for a narrow victory.

The rep Frostwolf looks awesome ..can’t wait to level mine. It has crouch and flurry and ghostly bite – a 289sp/289pwr beast type. This should handle 3 old PvP favs- smelly dog, Foss hatch and the Valk…best of all it has howl in the crouch slot if you need it. Throw this pet on your frost theme team..it looks nice!

    Loving the WoD pet variety!!

I’m loving the variety, too. You are right, the Frostwolf will be a good third pet for the theme. Gotta pick that little guy up.

Been trying out Zomstrok. Quite useful with the Shell. And was fun with Carpnado vs triple elemental team(raggy, corgi, fel flame). Also found Soul of the Forge with stoneskin + heal a very nice mech counter.

Still lots of pets to try. I’m a bit sad about the lack of variety in the Wasps and the new ravagers, also not very impressed by their abilities(they are excellent at leveling and looking cool).

Looking forward to trying out the Nightshade Sproutling and the Ore Eater if I can get a hold of them.

I agree about the wasps. Barbed Stinger hasn’t worked well for me yet. I’ll keep an eye out for Zomstrok. Soul Of The Forge is the pet I wan’t the most right now, I’m just waiting for the prices to drop for a few more days. It sucks not being rich anymore, I really should get back into profs.

Disco… forget professions, flip pets between realms. You can start with shore crawlers and ravens..you use the undermine journal and find where the unobtainable breeds are going cheap..make a lvl 1 there and raise the gold you need to get the pet to sell on Illidan, stormrage or area 52

The new pets also offer this boon opportunity but the ravens (p/s and s/s) and crawlers and red carp are big profit gainers. The only tip is to back fast since others do this too. Once you have gold on the big realms you’re good to buy pets that are a quick sale in trade chat …the fast sellers(crawdad, crimson whelp, small tcgs)

Good tip. I do a little bit of that to buy pets on Area 52. It comes in handy having gold on those realms, I was finally able to pick up a Soul Of The Forge today!

…that was ‘act fast’ …gotta love hyperactive spell checkers
