Today’s Team: Cold Cuts
P/S Ikky (Quills, Black Claw, Flock)
S/S Fiendish Imp (Burn, Immolation, Nether Gate)
H/H Scourged Whelpling (Tail Swipe, Death And Decay, Plagued Blood)

Rationale:
I’ve been using Immolation and Plaugued Blood combo since before the Fiendish Imp even existed, since his corefire cousin was the Immolation pet of choice. It’s not as awesome as it once was, but it can still provide some great heals for the imp. Immolation ticks while the imp is on the back line and heals him with the human racial. If Plagued Blood is up he’ll get healed a second time. Throw down Death and Decay and the Scourged Whelpling is also getting healed twice per round, once for Tail Swipe and once for Death and Decay. Tail Swipe used to hit twice per round if the Scourged Whelpling was slower, but that mechanic was changed to do more damage rather than hit twice. Ikky’s move set has nice synergy with this combo; I’m hoping that Black Claw and Flock can add some damage to Immolation and Black Claw.

The Opposing Team:
H/P Dread Raven
B/B Gilnean Raven
B/B Gilnean Raven

The Battle:
111914AAs you would expect the battle started as imp versus raven. I should have started off with Nether Gate, but I started with Immolation and then Nether Gate. This was a bad move since it allowed the first raven to get off both its CDs then brought in a fresh raven for free. I must be out of practice. I brought in my Scourged Whelpling to get the Immolation and healing going, but it was less effective thanks to Darkness. The second raven swapped out for the Dread Raven. I pulled out the Scourged Whelpling for Ikky. I decided to take a risk with this bad match up (Shadow Talons is strong versus flyers) so I could save the imp and Scourged Whelpling for the end. The plan was working well, Ikky took out the Dread Hatchling then applied Black Claw to the highest health raven. Immolation, Death and Decay and Black Claw saw the raven’s health fall fast after it killed Ikky. The imp, now faster, finished it off. The imp damaged the final raven, all it was going to take was one Tail Swipe for the win… then once again, a miss determined the outcome. No win for me! Darkness still prevails even with the new accuracy mechanics. I hit on my undead round for a draw, oh well.
