Today’s Team: The Exemplary
P/P Frostworf Ghostpup (Scratch, Refuge, Ghostly Bite)
S/S Prairie Mouse (Flurry, Poison Fang, Survival)
H/P Shimmershell Snail (Acid Touch, Shell Shield, Dive)

Rationale:
I recently wrote an article on the must-have WoD pets for Adventures in Poor Taste. One of the pets I included on the list is the Frostwolf Ghostpup. I like it a lot because it has both an anti-humanoid and an anti-undead move along with the new move Refuge. Refuge provides a shield for the undead pup and any critter allies, hence the inclusion of two critters on the squad. The shield is a block rather than a damage reduction; it lasts six rounds.

You could probably get away with one critter along with the Frostwolf Ghostpup, but that would telegraph which pet was coming in next. I decided to go with two critters to keep my opponents guessing, but the lack of coverage is a bit worrying. I’ll either start with the mouse or the ghost doggy. One thing that has worked well for me so far today has been using Survival on the mouse, then swapping it out with 1 hp. If I can get another Refuge off then the mouse will be protected on the swap, allowing it another round of Survival. There are a lot of critters I want to try but this is the team I suggested in the article that I mentioned so I wanted to try it out first. It’s been winning a decent amount today but does have a bunch of losses, too.

The Opposing Team:
S/S Gilnean Raven
P/S Blighthawk
P/P Deathwing

The Battle:
111415BThis one was a quickie. I thought that Elementium Bolt would be the first move so I chose my doggy and I was correct in seeing Deathwing. The first round was an exchange of Scratch and Darkness. The bolt did come in the second round but it missed thanks to Darkness. Serves you right! The Gilnean Raven swapped in to a Scratch. Nocturnal Strike hit the puppy who cast Refuge. The block was used the next round on Alpha Strike, but now both my critters were protected. After bringing my Frostwolf Ghostpupto 0 the barely surviving flyer swapped back to Deathwing. Bad move. The cataclysmic dragon got pounded with a 690 damage Ghostly Bite.

111415CMy mouse came in to finish off the dragon with a Flurry then dominate the Blighthawk with more Flurries, thanks in part to a block. The raven was beaten by the mouse as well thanks to me winning the coin toss. The snail might as well have been an Elekk Plushie. That’ll be a fun challenge after the PvE achievement is earned, the challenge of winning a hundred PvP battles with one. Awesome, that’ll be a new type of daily if things ever get stale towards the end of WoD, “The Elekk Plushie PvP challenge”.
