Game 1 (Copycat Killers)
Fiendish Imp, Darkmoon Tonk, Blighthawk
vs. Clockwork Gnome, Scourged Whelpling, Fiendish Imp

This team is hard to beat. That damn Gnome can get some crazy healing off of the combination of Plagued Blood and Turrets. Even though I didn’t have any shields I brought one of my best teams so I was able to get by this team. The Tonk needed to throw down two Minefields and use its Ion Cannon at the end in order to win. My Imp survived the battle with 300ish hp.

Game 2 (Sultans Of Ping*)
Fiendish Imp, Warbot, Spirit Crab
vs. Magical Crawdad, Darkmoon Tonk, Celestial Dragon

090413FFor both the the Sultans of Ping* and the Sultans of Ding I just added a Spirit Crab to an already good comp. What happened to my pride in creative team creation? Oh well, at least I still have my Rat teams. This battle was hard even with a great team. I ended up No Timing my opponent (all of my pets survived) but they were all at low health. There’s some unwritten rule of pet battles that says when you are fighting a Crawdad you will miss in order to allow it to heal. Seriously, look it up. I shouldn’t complain, my Gate hit when it needed to.

*I later realized that the “Sultans Of Ping” and “Pho Cough” are the same team with different names. I guess I really love these three pets.

Game 3 (Sultans Of Ding)
Snarly, Infested Bear Cub, Spirit Crab
vs. Lil’ Ragnaros, Lil’ XT, Wild Jade Hatchling

090413CI knew this one was going to be tough. Traps, Lightning, AoEs, this could get ugly. And it did. At least I had Snarly to start off against the Lightning dragon, which will always result in a dead dragon. Even though the dragon was gone its Lightning and Cyclone punished me for five rounds. Combine that with a Bear miss and I thought the sour rng would result in a loss. At the end it was my Crab versus Rag which meant Shell SHield to the rescue versus Sons. I was able to survive the Trap and not even have to use my Undead turn.

Game 4 (Frank Rizzo)
Son Of Animus, Black Rat, Fiendish Imp
vs. Scourged Whelpling, Scourged Whelpling, Emerald Turtle

090413EI saw the opposing pets and figured this would be an easy one. My Rat is good against both of the Undead, my healing potential is great, the Turtle is not very scary. I actually made it more difficult because I was going out of my way to swap to the Animus to get the Touch heals when I shouldn’t have swapped at all.

Game 5 (The Hard Call)
Snarly, Infested Bear Cub, Warbot
vs. Darkmoon Tonk, Ghostly Skull, Stitched Pup

090413AIt started out as Skull versus Warbot. I threw down a Minefield and swapped to Snarly. I Ripped, Blood In The Water, swapped to my Bear and Mauled. A standard opening for this team but there is an awful lot of swapping going on here. I swapped to my Warbot on the Skull’s Undead turn. I pretty much repeated the cycle on the Stitched Pup that came in to the Minefield, with the exception of swapping out Snarly as soon as he got Howled. The Bear got sent to 0 hp on a crit, that was a bummer. The Tonk had to come into the second Minefield and I finished it off with Snarly.

Game 6 (Flayed Ones)
Flayer Youngling, Son Of Animus, Scourged Whelpling
vs. Flayer Youngling, Nordrassil Wisp, Bat

090413GPretty cool, a Flayer vs. Flayer battle in the days when people don’t use them much. I had a huge advantage because I had such a better breed. I was using an S/S and my opponent was using an H/H. They were also using a slow breed of Wisp which makes that a pretty easy pet to fight. In fact, my Flayer completely decimated the Wisp to start off the battle. The I swapped to the Scourged Whelpling for the Bat, and then there was a cameo by my Animus before going back to my Flayer. An easy one for sure.

Game 7 (Ratty Dread)
Black Rat, Scourged Whelpling, Robo-Chick
vs. Nordrassil Wisp, Rapana Whelk, Electrified Razortooth

090413DFor a moment there I thought my streak was going to be brought to end by a Rapana Whelk. It was slower than my Scourged Whelpling so no double Tail Swipes, it had shields to block both DoTs, I didn’t have many big hitting moves to keep it from Absorb tanking me. My only shot was Wind-Up spam, but my opponent should be able to dance around it. Except they didn’t. They left the Whelk in to take a bunch of Wind-Ups which led to its end. After that the Scourged Whelpling took out the Razortooth, the Rat and the Chick finished off the Wisp.

Game 8 (Sears And Robot)
Spirit Crab, Sen’Jin Fetish, Warbot
vs. Wild Jade Hatchling, Lil’ Ragnaros, Lil’ XT

090413BI fought this team in game 3 earlier, when I saw it again I thought I had a good shot at winning. I knew they would start with Lightning and Cyclone then Swap so on turn three I used Sear Magic on the Cyclone. So far, so good. Then came in Lil’ XT to AoE and I Immolated, it’s still going well. XT was able to take out the Fetish thanks to a Shadow Slash miss. I brought out the Warbot who got finished off by Ragnaros really quickly. Then three Sulfuras Smashes in a row combined with a detonated Trap finished off my Spirit Crab just as fast. It was a nice run, I used a lot of my best teams today.

Game Over.

Final Score: 8
