Game 1 (Crabby Smacker)
Spirit Crab, Crimson Geode, Scalded Basilisk Hatchling
vs. Anubisath Idol, Fel Flame, Nexus Whelpling
Even with the nerf to Sandstorm the Idol usually is still a PITA. This one wasn’t as bad as usual because it used Rupture on the first turn against my Basilisk, which let me know it didn’t have Deflection. That allowed me to get a Prison and two Thrashes off before the Sandstorm came. The Crab came in and finished off the Idol and put some big hurt on the Fel Flame. My Geode had the same speed as both the Whelpling and the Flame and ended up winning both coin flips for an easy victory.
Game 2 (Ruby Brothers)
Ruby Droplet, Son Of Animus, Fiendish Imp
vs. Onyxian Whelpling, Cockroach, Darkmoon Cub
I finally got around to making a real Ruby Droplet team. It really didn’t get tested in this battle. The Droplet was not losing any hp but the impending Apocalypse was going to be the deciding factor in this battle. The Cockroach came back in too early and my Imp was able to take it out with weak attacks. It died, the Apocalypse missed, and the opposing team ran away.
Game 3 (Moonlight Fetish)
Xu-Fu, Nether Fairie Dragon, Sen’Jin Fetish
vs. Emerald Proto-Whelp, Stunted Direhorn, Scourged Whelpling
I really wish that the Fluxfire Feline wasn’t totally gutted after 5.1 so people would still queue with it and I could get some revenge. Like this battle against the Direhorn. You’re not overpowered anymore Mr. Direhorn. Now die like every other pet. The Fetish and Direhorn cancelled each other out. Xu-Fu took out the Whelpling before I swapped to the Fairie Dragon for Moonlight. It was risky since the EPW would benefit from it as well. That didn’t matter, I had it all wrapped up. Except my Prowled Feed missed, doh. The following two Spirit Claws hit for the win.
Game 4 (Sultans Of Ding)
Spirit Crab, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Sunreaver Micro-Sentry, Anubisath Idol, Chrominius
I just love how all these Idols are falling on their faces these days. Their ugly, 1725 hp, Sandstorm using, human racial abusing (what?) faces. Really though, the 5 round CD on Sandstorm has really made a difference, a lot more than I thought it would. In this battle I Ripped but got stunned by Rupture on the first round. I swapped to my Bear Cub and then got hit by a few Demolishes, yuck. A Maul and a Diseased Bite was enough to take out the Idol. I swapped to the Crab and it took out Chrominius easily. All three pets were still alive for the Sunreaver, I let the Crab take it out.
Game 5 (The Good Fight)
Robo-Chick, Mongoose Pup, Diemetradon Hatchling
vs. Scourged Whelpling, Elfin Rabbit, Emerald Proto-Whelp
This Rabbit was of the 338 speed variety so it was was Mongoose time. The Rabbit went down fast, it barely scratched the Mongoose. The Proto-Whelp came in and I was worried about Emerald Presence with all my multiple attacks. That’s one of the many reasons I love the Robo-Chick, it has a nuke in the form of Wind-Up along with its multiple attack Batter. Three Wind-Ups took out the Whelp. My opponent ran.
Game 6 (Pick Your Poison)
Mongoose Pup, Curious Wolvar Pup, Warbot
vs. Netherspace Abyssal, Maggot, Clockwork Rocket Bot
It started out with the Mongoose versus the Rocket Bot. I should have started with the Minefield, not sure what I was thinking. The opposing Minefield went down so I Gnawed until I got Gated out. My Warbot was forced in by the Gate so I threw down my Mines and Missiled the Netherspace Abyssal until the Warbot died. The Mongoose came back in to finish of the Abyssal but my Gnaw missed. That was a huge damage turn around, the ensuing Explode almost killed the Mongoose. Stupid miss. Survival helped stay alive to hurt the Maggot, my Wolvar came in and finished it off. The Trap never went off.
Game 7 (Jurassic Three)
Stunted Direhorn, Diemetradon Hatchling, Scalded Basilisk Hatchling
vs. Mirror Strider, Masked Tanuki, Masked Tanuki
Seriously? I queue with three Beasts and get to fight two Critters. Talk about lucky. The Direhorn took a little bit of thought to use after the 5.4 nerfs. This was more of a nostalgic battle than anything. When I first obtained the Stunted Direhorn I made a bunch of new teams with it, this was one of them. Later when I realized that it took the brainpower of a dead hamster to win with a Direhorn I stopped using them. I can’t say I’ll be using them a lot now even thought they’ve been nerfed. And by the way, can’t someone just beat me already? I may have to stop doing Challenge Mode every day if it’s gonna take this long.
Game 8 (Lolkin Bonus)
Nexus Whelpling, Nexus Whelpling, Nexus Whelpling
vs. Clockwork Gnome, Sunreaver Micro-Sentry, Water Waveling
The last battle was a faceroll for me due to the match-up. This one was a bad match-up for me, and I got decimated. Even though I was playing with a silly team I hate losing to a Gnome. Maybe I should stop playing with dumb teams if I don’t want to lose.
