Game 1 (Frank Rizzo)
Fiendish Imp, Son Of Animus, Black Rat
vs. Spirit Crab, Unborn Val’kyr, Amber Moth
I know it’s still early in 5.4 but so far I haven’t seen any of the new pets as meta breaking. In fact, I feel that most of my good teams from 5.3 will be good in 5.4. Like this team. I was pretty scared to see a Spirit Crab and a Valk on the opposing team. Valks really need to be fixed and brought back down close to the level of 5.3. They needed a slight buff but now they are stupidly broken imo. Haunt is an extremely powerful move with almost no down side. It didn’t matter in this case, my Animus took out the Crab (which was an H/S lol) and most of the Valk (which didn’t Haunt). The annoying Moth was easy enough to take down with two pets thanks to no Sleep.
Game 2 (The Hard Call)
Warbot, Snarly, Infested Bear Cub
vs. Murkimus, Wild Crimson Hatchling, Anodized Robo Cub
It’s good to be using my top tier teams again. Not to say that I’m done experimenting with the 5.4 pets, I’ve barely just begun, but it’s nice to know my 5.3 teams can still do well. In this battle Snarly took out the dragon and put a Bleed on the Anodized Cub. A Supercharged Demolish helped take out my Warbot quickly, but not before a Minefield was put down. Murkimus came into the mines and was finished off by my Cub.
Game 3 (Purple Crane)
Spirit Crab, Mirror Strider, Azure Crane Chick
vs. Onyxian Whelpling, Menagerie Custodian, Stitched Pup
I just can’t stay away from this team and here it is notching up another win. This battle was a lucky win, though. It started out as the Onyxian Whelpling against my Strider. The dragon won thanks to the Dragonkin racial but my Chick came right in to finish the it. After a few Quills I swapped to my Crab as the Ion Cannon came. I was able to take out the Custodian with the Crab and damage the Stitched Pup. The Crane came in to finish things off but got Howled as it took the Stitched Pup to 0 hp. With 700 hp left the Diseased Bite might have killed my Crane for the draw but it missed. Phew.
Game 4 (Harmony)
Xu-Fu, Nether Fairie Dragon, Harmonious Porcupette
vs. Fjord Worg Pup, Lil’ KT, Deathwing
Another dead Deathwing. I’ve really got it out for that dragon. The Worg Pup Danced for the speed buff but it didn’t do a lot for its team. My Fairie Dragon was still faster than KT with the buff and ended up taking it out. The Porcupette came in to put up Tranquility and did a good job against Deathwing but didnt survive. Xu-Fu came into a Celestial Blessing, killed Deathwing and the Worg Pup for the win. On a lame note, I realized my settings were messed up so all of my screenshots so far will be a little bit off.
Game 5 (Funlight)
Ashleaf Spriteling, Blossoming Ancient, Xu-Fu
vs. Menagerie Custodian, Onyxian Whelpling, Stitched Pup
I think I’ve finally found a Sunlight team that I like. It has sustainability and some power. I’ve always associated Sunlight with long, drawn-out 30 to 40 round battles. This one was 22 rounds. The P/P Spriteling hits pretty hard with Solar Beam. I predicted that my opponent would swap to the Custodian as soon as I went to Xu-Fu so I didn’t even bother trying to Prowl, I just used Feed and then swapped to the Blossoming Ancient. My strat with the Spriteling is to put up the DoT before Solar Beam so it can heal while recovering. That almost kept it alive, but it still died to the Stitched Pup. The damage was done, I had no problem finishing with the other two pets.
Jademist Dancer, Scalded Basilisk Hatchling, Spirit Crab
vs. Lil’ Deathwing, Mei Lei Sparkler, Tainted Moth
That’s what I like, more dead Deathwings. I’m not sure if my team is a keeper not, I just wanted to try out my new Jademist Dancer. I always complain about Flyers when I run my Basilisk so I used the Dancer for some coverage. Lo and behold I queue against two Flyers. Oh queue gods, what have I done to please you? Rain Dance didn’t get me any crits but Jade Claw did some serious damage to the Sparkler. I had this all wrapped up but then my Crab missed a killshot on DW who brought me to 0 hp on the next turn with a racialed Cataclysm. Thankfully my Snap hit that turn.
Game 7 (Ruby Noobies)
Ruby Droplet, Scalded Basilisk Hatchling, Corefire Imp
vs. Fiendish Imp, Unborn Val’kyr, Infected Squirrel
I like winning but I wasn’t planning on spending all of my WoW time doing Challenge Mode. Time for a themed team! I still haven’t made a real team with my Droplet, I really should considering the amount of gold I spent on it. I was disappointed when I saw the team I was facing because it is certainly a competitive team but I brought the silliness. I would’ve liked to face it with one of my competitive teams. As you can probably guess I lost. So far the best ways to combat the broken (imo) Valk is with a shield or an Aquatic. I had neither, it was a faceroll. Ruby Noobies will rise! Just wait and see!
Final Score: 6
