Game 1 (Nerf My Smurf)
Nether Fairie Dragon, Xu-Fu, Fiendish Imp
vs. Nexus Whelpling, Nexus Whelpling, Ghostly Skull

091113BThis is a scary team to face. Before the Dragonkin buff it hit hard enough, now it’s downright deadly. I was able to win thanks to a missed Mana Surge. While I’m on the topic I think Mana Surge (and moves like it) that hit hard but are balanced by a low hit rate are just silly. Roll the dice, hit and win. This time they rolled this dice, missed and lost. I’m afraid I’m going to see a lot more of these. Back to this battle, I was able to Gate out the Skull when I needed, I was able to Dodge the Mana Surge a few times and most importantly I was able to Feed…yum. This is going to be a powerful move, I need to start exploring some cool ways to use it. The obvious Moonlight is working well, but it’s obvious. There’s probably something clever out there waiting to be discovered.

Game 2 (Double Fairies)
Nether Fairie Dragon, Nether Fairie Dragon, Xu-Fu
vs. Emerald Proto-Whelp, Emerald Shale Hatchling, Yellow-Bellied Marmot

091113EThis team of mine might have some potential. Instead of providing coverage for both the strong and weak counters of the Dragons with the Fetish I may just pick one really strong counter to either Mechs or Huumanoids. Or not, the Fetish is fun with its Sear Magic and I still haven’t tried Rot.

Game 3 (Needs More Crab)
Nether Fairie Dragon, Xu-Fu, Spirit Crab
vs. Curious Wolvar Pup, Snarly, Electrified Razortooth

091113DIf I’m ever not sure of which pet to add to a team… just throw in a Spirit Crab and it’ll all work out. I started off using Moonfire with Xu-Fu but a Prowled Feed is a sexy combo. I just hit Snarly for 953 damage and healed myself for the same. The fact that Prowl slowed me down was actually beneficial since it allowed me to take the hit first before healing it. Oh, here’s a newsflash: Traps still suck in 5.4. It took away my Crab’s Undead turn. Stupid Wolvar.

Game 4
Nether Fairie Dragon, Xu-Fu, Infinite Whepling
vs. Ghostly Skull, Anubisath Idol, Stunted Direhorn

091113CBow to your new Dragonkin overlords! I’ve never been a fan of the Infinite Whelpling, I’ve just never done it right. Including this game. Even though my opponent started with the Skull, like a dummy I kept in the Infinite Whelpling and spammed weak Sleeping Gas in the hopes of putting it to sleep. The Sleep never came and my Infinite Welpling went down fast. It would seem a futile venture a few days a go to beat this team after a horrid start. But not now. The Nether Fairie Dragon and Xu-Fu were able to take out the powerful Idol and Direhorn mostly due to a 791 damage and heal Prowled Feed.

Game 5
Nether Fairie Dragon, Xu-Fu, Onyxian Whepling
vs. Lil’ Ragnaros, Mini Thor, Kun-Lai Runt

As I mentioned above, Traps still suck. This one could have gone either way at the end when it was my Fairie Dragon against Rag and the Kun-Lai Runt was still waiting to come out. A Trap was down, a Minefield was down. All I had to do is survive one hit, then kill Rag (who had a few hundred hp), Dodge, get two shots on the Runt and take my chances with Xu-Fu versus the Runt. A lot of variables I guess, but that was the plan. A plan which was shot to hell by one 800 damage crit by Rag. Goodbye Fairie Dragon. Out came Xu-Fu to the Mines, the Trap went off when I tried to Feed. Lovely. I’m having a lot of fun with these new teams.

Game Over.

Final Score: 4
