Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I have some WoD information that might be of interest.

WoD changed the amount of XP needed to level a character and it also removed the Guild 10% perk. But if you are lazy like me (or just dislike having to run the same content on multiple alts) then leveling via pet battles is still an okay option.

WoD also introduced some new Pet Battle Achievements which you can work on (get 2000 Draenor wins, etc). This includes queuing for the pvp pet battle system (as long as you are in Draenor), wild pet battles, or Menagerie pet battles.

First – Heirlooms still grant bonus xp IF you have upgraded them for 90 to 100. For example my level 92 character gets around 10,500 without them or 15,500 with Heirlooms on.

Second – The 1 hour 20% XP potion you can buy with Garrison resources does work with pet battles. So that same level 92 character increases XP from 15,500 to 17,500 per battle (or approximately 2% of a level per battle; that’s ~45 battles per level for 90 to 100).

Third – You can use the Menagerie to quickly level and heal your pets for free. To do this your character needs to have their own Garrison, use the Premade Groups tab and find someone who is offering a daily trader or the visiting pet battler, and visit leader garrison function. Often there are a number of groups. Today (July 23 here in Japan) was King and Queen Floret. Using the strategies from the Warcraft Pets Forum thread I started on Menagerie speed kills you can complete this battle in roughly 1 min with free heals to start again. With the aforementioned buffs I raised my level 91 to level 92 in a little over a half hour. ***SPECIAL NOTE*** only Menagerie battles with 2 or 3 pets grants max xp, any battle with only 1 pet (like Stitches Jr) grant only a third.

Four – IT IS POSSIBLE to get a low level character to Draenor (Mage port to Ashran, or summoned by Warlock stone to Garrison directly). And it is possible to get that character to a Garrison. It is much easier to get an Alliance toon from Ashran to SMV, then getting a Horde toon from Ashran all the may around to Frostfire. But it can be done. I got my level 45 Horde Hunter ported to Ashran, then used a water walking mount to run all the way around to Frostfire (died a few times to hungry fish). Once in Frostfire I used the Premade Group function, joined a Garrison and did Menagerie battles. I would strongly suggest making sure to get the Flight Path at Ashran and the Garrison one. Also for this to work you need a level 90+ toon with a Garrison first to be able to view Garrisons on your alts.

I can’t recommend the last option of getting a low level toon to Draenor. It is a lot of work and the XP you get from the Menagerie battles aren’t really worth it. BUT if the Elixir of Ancient Knowledge does grant 300% additional xp for pet battles, then it very easily could. I sadly have never acquired one or I would test it.

Finally as for exact figures for number of battles per level between 90-100, those I do not have since I never wrote them down. I have leveled about 4 toons this way, both with and without heirlooms (the 20% xp potion buff I just found out about yesterday). Generally with no heirlooms from 90 to 100 it takes 70~80 battles per level (it increases slightly as you level). With heirlooms is takes around 55-60 per level.

I can recommend doing pvp pet battles from 90-100 with heirlooms, but can’t with the 20% potion since it only lasts an hour and pvp pet battles take much longer then using the menagerie. And do your self a favor and do some quests whenever you have the rested xp, helps break up the monotomy.

Thanks for the tips and all of the effort that went into your long posts. There’s no such thing as “necroing” here, so feel free to comment on whatever you like :)

I also leveled 3 toons -90s this way to get the monument

The fastest pve battles were the crabs near the garrison..just goblin glide there

If you had Murkalot/blackfuse/Imperial eagle chick..just R.I +armaggedon..then clean up with thrash when needed.. you need bandages but charms can get you lots of those

The fun thing is when you battle lvl 23s you have a chance to do a triple knockout with R.I. / Armaggedon- (p/p) blackfuse..this makes for a 2 move win -17 seconds…a normal match takes 33 seconds or so

To reduce bandages, the sunblade microsentry also does armaggedon. .the bird and murk take little to no damage and can be used 2 matches

I suggest getting Inns on your alts if you’re leveling toons like this…to get a free weekly follower…you will only have 3 followers or so if you do no questing

I wish I would have read this when I still care about leveling toons. I was using 2 Explode pets and a carry times three.
